Anybody else HATE fireworks?

I feel your pain...my poor dogs are terrified of fireworks and thunder....(border collie and pitt bull)...they pant like they are having a heart attack and hide in the shower or closet...as for the chickens I ma not so sure? Unfortunately, we live close to the Atlanta Braves Baseball Stadium so we have fireworks nearly every weekend. I also HATE those people who think coming to the park across the road and letting off fireworks is a good idea then leaving all their trash and scorch marks everywhere.

IMO the only people setting off fireworks should be professionals at public displays.

My horses get stuck in the barn lot for 3 days b/c otherwise they are too close to the neighbors on one side who set off fireworks. I worry about someone getting hurt in any number of ways so they have 3 days of being in a small area as a result.

My noise-phobic dog spends 3 days in meltdown. I think I'm going to get her a Thundershirt (http://www.thundershirt.com) b/c she's also terrified of thunder and it is getting worse as she gets older.

The chickens were a mess.

Can't STAND the whole 4th of July thing. MAKE IT STOP!!!!! <sigh>

My DH has been deployed many times now, and he HATES fireworks. It makes his PTSD flare up when he's otherwise doing perfect and doesn't have any problems, in fact, outside of the Fourth, it's really nearly impossible to tell he even has PTSD.

Fireworks are thankfully illegal here. But even if they were legal, we'd not be lighting them.

Do not call my husband unpatriotic, unless you'd like to go in his place for the next deployment.

I agree. I have PTSD and loud noises give me trouble too. I am very patriotic, and have the scars to prove it. But I hate fireworks.

My chickens on the other hand? I've never noticed then paying any attention to them period. I guess living with all the noise of the kids, tractors, chain saws, and general farm noises.. they just don't pay them any attention.

Well, its nice to know others are on the same page with me. There were STILL lots of fireworks being set off last night. Its been almost a week straight. I'm tired of having to drug my dog and I'm more tired of his hot, stinky breath panting on my leg with the occasional hyperventilating tongue swipe on my bare leg. I hate that!

The two big dogs follow me around and are constatnly underfoot so we are tripping over them, panting, panting, panting. My little dog is in the closet under my clothes or shaking shaking shaking under the covers.

I only got 2 eggs yesterday! Clearly the girls are unhappy.

I was wondering how service people were affected by the similarity. We say we are being patriotic, but I think its all another excuse.

I really don't like fireworks, they are loud, bright flashes and smell. All things that can trigger my migraines. My one dog is terrified of loud noises, like thunder and fireworks. This year I gave him rescue remedy, it is an herbal anti-anxiety. It helped him tremendously. He was still nervous, but there was no barking or frantic running around or whining.

STILL GOING OFF! What is thhe attraction? Geez. I thought maybe I could go tonite without giving Caesar a prozac, but not so lucky.
