Anybody else having sticker shock on coffee?

I buy the Folgers brand that says "Gentle on the Stomach" for my husband, and it was $15.99 for the large container! I was so shocked, I swear it used to be $9.99.......

I personally love the way coffee smells, but then if I drink it....SO BITTER! AWK! So I have to have lots of cream and suger to be able to drink it.....I don't drink it much.

Hubby is a weird vegetarians, most of his diet is peanut butter/chip sandwiches. I have to go to Krogers and stock up because from what I heard the prices of peanut butter will go up.

I buy that large tub from Krogers, for $8.59 and I predict it will go to the ten dollar tub before long. He goes thru a tub a week so maybe I need to stock up on so many tubs for six months or whatever I can use past its expiration date.

Another news.....gas prices will go up to 5 dollars a gallon by winter or next year.

I can't believe it either. I am pregnant and drinking decaf, otherwise I spring for a Eight O Clock's french roast (I long for some again

). I was loving International House's Dark Chocolate Breve Creamer. I have no clue why they don't sell that locally anymore. The store shelf was always empty, so I assumed it was a high seller. They've come out with a couple of other flavors that I'm not so fond of. I am going to stock up on PB because I've heard the same thing! Yikes! We love our PB around here! I'll be going to Sam's Club this weekend and I'm hoping it hasn't shot up by then. I always used to buy Kroger brand PB when they'd have it 10 for $10, but I haven't saw one of those sales on PB in probably 2 years or so. They used to run cheese on the same deal. Now I'm lucky if I can find it on sale for 3 for $5.00.

I am working really hard trying to get dairy goats so we can have milk and cheese for way less. We have two goats now and if I get a job, I will have another one. If you can, you might wanna think about trying to find a miniature cow or a few goats.

I have cut back considerably because of the price... You might want to buy beans in bulk and freeze them, and then grind them as you use them? I limit myself to a cup in the morning (also because of the purported effect coffee has on cholesterol and the known effect it has on my stomach

I haven't had to buy coffee in years.

DH's dad and his aunt have this weird "need" to gift us with huge canisters of Folger's Classic Roast. Our pantry is lined with them. FIL and his sister are old, it pleases them to do this, so I don't say anything but Thank You. I've resorted to donating the extra extras to the food pantry, because it has gotten ridiculous. I personally am a Green Mountain coffee snob (like a kid I mix several flavors to get my own special blend!

) , though never think to shop at places where they sell it loose bean style, but heard it is up to $13 a pound in our area. Also, a friend of mine has a coffee bean plantation in Jamaica. She promised the gift of bags full of her Blue Mountain beans for Christmas and I must add that I'm looking forward to a change from Folger's!

I usually buy 5-6 of the big bags of the Dunkin Donuts coffee at a time at BJ's and noticed last month it had gone up to $19.99 a bag! I gotta have my coffee though.

We are thinking/working on maybe getting a couple of goats for milk. I just think that the amount of milk we'd get from goats, would be more feasible to use up than that of a cow -- even a mini one. We are expecting baby#3 in late Feb/early March or else I'd have some goats already. I'd be the one to mostly care for them, so that's why we are waiting.

I had an idea.....just got back from getting groceries, bought coffee of course, the no-name-brand and it was reg. 5.49 & got 20%off w/store coupon. I normally buy what I have a coupon for or is on sale, most of the time Folgers/Maxwell House. As for adding flavored creamer to my coffee it's 50/50 of the time. So what hit me was after reading all the posts here earlier, seeing the prices of the name brands verses the no name....Why not buy the no name brand and mix it with the name brand...equal parts?? Would definitely improve the taste of the off brand and if ya add creamer......even better? Just my thinking.
