Is this your first ringneck pheasant or have you hatched them before? I have a cousin in West Monroe, LA who wants to hatch ringnecks. Are yours from shipped eggs or did you find them locally? Just curious... I want to hear how they all turn out, so keep us posted

Hi Guys!

Well I finally got a good nights sleep. I know DH will appreciate that.

All the chickies are in the brooder and doing fine. They are eating and sipping water and streaking around. Man they are fast on the take off. te he I do have a little problem with one. It looks like she has what's called splayed leg! Gotta go research and see how I can help her. Anyone have experience with this situation. I'll be back soon. I will share my hatch method I used this time here in NC near the coast. I had 100% hatch rate from when I candled at day 10. My first hatch was a diaster. (sp. ?) I did a great deal of research here and it made a hugh difference. 0% 1st hatch.....100% hatch 2nd hatch)
Thank You BYC!

I got mine out of Tenn. I'm not happy with them I got eight eggs; one cracked in shipping so I set 7. The first three piped and nothing the forth to pip hatched and the other three are just sitting. They pip but do not zip I had one died in the shell and one is dieing one pipped and just sitting.

I'll look up where I got them from and pass it on.

I think I slept about 3 1/2 hours before I got up to let the silkies out. I love those little guys

Of course I had to run down and check the brooder too

I think I've slept very few hours since Tuesday afternoon when the first pip came.

There's always next week for sleeping... oh wait, I think I'm starting the next hatch then

I feel bad about your friend's birds. It's sad to have a poor hatch with expensive eggs ON TOP OF having to cull due to mass sickness

You're a kind friend to try to help her (from a distance... long distance). Maybe a few unsuspected ones with pull out a surprise

I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help in encouraging you to stay strong against the hatch addiction. I toyed with it for a couple of months, then DH came in one day and said "just go ahead and get an incubator." That was it! It was over! Now the only obstacle is where we're going to put all these little cuties when they get bigger

I've gotta say... I want you to build the bator cuz I want to see it! And cuz obsession loves company

I've just talked to my friend- she lives outside city limits and can have unlimited birds and roos- I'm in the middle of the city and can have no more than 20 birds and no roos...we won't tell, right? I have a very quiet respectful one.

I think I'll be building my design and will start doing her hatching for her. That's the plan, anyway. I am setting 3 of my banty Cochin's eggs right now, and hoping to find out what you get when you mix a gorgeous black and splash EE over a black banty Cochin... It could be the cutest thing to ever walk the earth, right?

Dangit!! Now I'm addicted to hatching and I didn't even mean to start!!!

Hello all quick pop in....Dr appt and all had me going, drugged heavy...hurting...babies coming along 11 Buffs and 1 Cuckoo Maran, finally something else popped open...still no RIRS...cant be on toniight...too much pain...can read on my mobile though...so I will be watching you all off/on....MISSED YOU ALL TODAY!!!!! addictions!!!! somebody call INTREVENTION...

cant make the walk to see babies to much...takes me forever...keep me posted and GOOD LUCK ALL...CANT WAIT TO HEAR TOMM....

Ok, back up and running...just slow Im in pain...BUT...time to play the sitting chicken mama again...I have so far 11 total hatched one being a cuckoo maran FINALLY....I have 16eggs still not hatched...and 2 of those zipping but my question is this...they are still in the same spot, havent moved along at all ....Im wondering if the egg shell will dry????

They are still moving trying to get out, when do I help them get out?...what if the egg shell dries? my humidity dropped to 47% and I dont know if its because its early morning...I usually dont check them til 830am...and it was 7am when I checked them.

If you can get the humidity up, do it, and don't open the eggs, even if they've cracked and zipped...it will dry out more.

If you have the windows in your incubator, you can get a couple of paper towels, wad them up, and get them wet (run the water until it's hot)- open the window and set them near the eggs- not touching, and not ON the eggs- this will blast your humidity up fast.

If they haven't progressed, the yolk isn't likely absorbed, nor is it likely they have pulled the blood all in from the membrane...be patient!!

...and you know I'm really talking to myself, because I'm pressing my nose against the window waiting for this little chick to do SOMETHING!!! It's been zipped since last night!!!!

AAAaaaarrrrrrggggghhhh!!
