yes cant wait this is my fisrt batch but only on day 18.its funny i bought a turner thinking it would save time turning them but i find myself looking at them about 10 time a day CANT WAIT ANYMORE
WOOHOO! I have 2 pips. The first I noticed a few hours ago... hasn't really made any progress since.
Now I have the same question -- does it sometimes take them a while from pip to zip, or is that a bad sign? I think the hum is around 65% (but I haven't opened the bator in a while since I know I'm not supposed to) and I've dry incubated up until now.
The second pip has gotten a bit bigger though.
Come on little chickies!
ETA: my first two pips look really similar to yours, chubbydog... one distinct hole, and then one a cracked triangle, but no visible hole. I haven't hear mine peep in a while, I hope they're just resting up for the big zip! Does anyone know how long this takes?
to make you feel a little better farmergal ...i had my first one hatch out...check out my other post(heading is "question about my hatching eggs")...i got a lot of great responses to my questions from people about what's going on...
i have 2 more that are in the same situation...they havent peeped all day, and not much is going on, though i did see my brown egg moving around...it took my first one about 17hrs to get to zipping its egg. then another 45 minutes to get out (and maybe i did sit there most of the time watching it? lol
)
anyway, hope the info on the thread helps! good luck!
EDT: the egg that pipped 2nd is starting to zip! it took 22hrs from pip to zip...
It can take a long time to zip after pipping. I mean like 24 hours long. It makes me crazy sometimes. They pip then they take a long nap and finally get around to it when they're in the mood.
They continue with that attitude the rest of their lives too
But some to zip a lot faster. Some are just wanting to get out of there.
