Anybody going to be hatching around March 22?

I just took out my turner and added 2 sponges with water and put my eggs back in.... I think waiting these 3 days may seem longer then the last 18!

I've got 5 Rosecomb RIR and 7 of my own EE's to hatch - Day 21 is tomorrow. As soon as they are out of the hatcher I've got 14 EE's from a BYC member and 12 of my own EE's, 12 of my own RIR's and 6 of my own B/B/S orpingtons. The fertility in my own eggs has been excellent. 12 for 12 on the EE's and RIR's and 6 out of 7 on the orps. Here's hoping I go home to find some pips

Huny,

If you added a dish, towel, or sponge of "cool" water (cool in this case is less than 100 degrees) it will drop the temperature. If you haven't adjusted the knob because the water addition cooled things a little- don't. It should come back up to the set temperature all on it's own. If you must re- adjust because you allready added additional heat, watch it closely and make only tiny adjustments to bring the temperature down slowly as the water heats back up.

Remember the air temperature is not exactly the inside of the egg temperature. The eggs have a little more mass and do not make such large fast changes. So it may be just fine. Try not to get too anxious.

I was just reading a thread about putting your eggs in a carton to hatch, so I ran in there and put them all in a carton... Now I am wondering if it matters it was a styrofoam carton not a cardboard one, all I had were the foam ones...

I am making myself CRAZY!

I think most carton buffs go for the paper ones but Im shure if its a big deal someone will holler about it.

Just about everyone that does the carton thing that I have read about says you should cut down the sides a little and put a hole in the bottom for heat or humidity or something .
GOod luck you guys are almost there.

Okay I am starting to panick, should I leave them in an egg carton or lay them on a rubber mat thingy? I was just going to lay them on a rubber mat and worry about the mess later. But I want to do this whatever way has a better hatch rate! HELP!!!!
