I'd buy some!

Sign me up for purchase of said "broody" line as well. Sounds like a fun experiment.

?????????

I have a coturnix that went broody and hatched out 3 chicks. FACT.

I also had an Indian Runner duck hatch out 12 ducklings. Another domestic bird that in most cases will not go broody.

It happens. It is rare, but it DOES happen.

I think we all did a good job on this thread of stating the odds were very low and that if you wanted a better hatch, you should get an incubator.

Accusing people of faking pictures is uncalled for.

x2!

All of the above are facts stated by a few, but here is the problem with this situation. I know for a FACT that most hens that do go broody, never finish the brooding process.
The ones that do stay broody, hatch a few chicks and raise a certain % of the ones hatched. What I see wrong with this is the fact of all the chicks that are LOST due to not finishing the brooding process or poor parenthood by the ones that do hatch chicks.

I get 85% hatch in the dead hot summer in an incubator and raise 95% of what hatches in the hottest part of summer or the coldest part of winter.. it doesn't matter which. Prove to me that a hen can do this, and I might try it out sometime. until then, I will set my own eggs

edit to fix spelling

I mean seriously it was just a fun thread to see those few that got the amazing opportunity to actually have a broody quail, its just fun, everything on the quail forum turns into an argument, lets just all take a chill pill and admire some extraordinary events thats happened on very slim occasions.
