Anybody here subscribe to Countryside magazine?

Ann,
Thanks for that. I've been thinking about keeping bees for a long time. I need another hobby like a hole in the head, but it really interests me. I did join that bee forum ages ago but haven't had time to do the research necessary to start. I should get a book. Jen

thanks for the info Ann! Maybe once the new wears off the chickens, I'll take up bees. I told my hubby that by the time we've been in our house 5 yrs, we'll have our own little 1 acre farmlet!

:weeeThat's the risk of subscribing to these magazines, there is no telling what they may convince you of. Two years ago if you told me I was going to be growing my own eggs I would have laughed. I still laugh everytime I carry eggs back to the house.

My family has subscribed to Countryside magazine for at least two years and I love it! I'd love to be completely self sufficient some day, and that magazine contains so many neat articles on how to do so.
Planting cucumbers sounds like fun..Even though we've had temps in the 70's today and yesterday, this is Indiana so it could be in the 20's tommorrow. So...I don't dare plant cucumbers until May!!

My mom kept bees for a long time. They were almost right next to the house but nobody ever got stung except the one time they swarmed and my dad had the bright idea to go in the middle of the swarm.

I LOVED eating the honey, comb and all!

Why did he do this? Just one of those, I wanted to see what it was like things?
