OK, the world's richest man lives in Mexico and is beyond our taxing authority. The truly wealthy all seem to live in the near east or the far east and are also beyond our tax system.

So much for the wealthy paying their fair share.

I am done talking about taxes and etc....this thread should have stay about unemployed and finding jobs, or what those unemployed are doing to deal with that. I got way off topic....so getting back ,don't want this thread locked.

Peace all , wishing you the best.

He has a sleep disorder and is on medication for the rest of his life, and while he responds well to it now....most places won't take him anyway, because it could get worse. If not, will definately look into that. Could be a way to get into something a little different than what he's used to, but possibly a great career move.

He does need one to get the CDL license , I'm so sorry

Yeah.. i showed it to hubby..
It would be perfect for him... and we live right here in MA already...
Is it a union job?? We're worried we'll just be in the SAME boat we're in now.(hes in a sheet metal union now).. no work... and then you cant take a non-union (sheet metal job) or you have to pay back $ all the "training" they give you for "free".( over $10,000 i believe).
So... basically he HAS to take some $10 an hour job and wait for the union to call him back to work.
OR switch careers totally and start over.... but how do you go back to school when you cant pay your mortgage?? You cant... its not reality.

Would it be the same situation likes hes in now? When work runs low what do these guys do?? He IS interested in it though...

It is a Union Job but the training is free and you can work doing whatever you want after. They don't even asses a monetary figure to the training it is truly on the job and then classes at the hall itself or at the sugar shack in New Hampshire where my husband and Brother in law set some poles. DH is the president of the local so he can put in a good word for him.The only thing you pay for is your books about $200 and that can be waived if you have a hardship. This is a good Union, we take care of our people. We have a brotherhood fund (DH's idea) 5cents an hr comes out of everyones pay and if anyone has a hardship (death of family member)house burns down car accident. We chip in pay bills give food gift cards. There is a $20 fee to file the application with NEAT because it weeds out the people who aren't serious.
Work does run out we just finished with a lay off ,lay off's usually run from a couple days to a couple of months , but they just won the bid on a job in maine that is going to take 10yrs to finish.Huge wind farm, its passed all the legislature and is starting soon He will have to travel maybe to maine, nh,vermont or farther. That's the tough part but they put him up in a hotel
He also learns how to drive a truck and one of guys at the hall usually DH will bring him to the registry with one of their trucks and sponsor him for his CDL.
My brother started to go through the apprenticeship and found out he didn't like heights so he got his equipment opperators license and worked for the Union that way , he applied for the T last year and they called him up and he is soon to be a journeyman T lineman in boston , he loves it.
PM me if you want

That's great that some people are posting actual job opportunities. Someone should start a thread for that if it's allowed.

Phooey...ah well. I have put in applications all morning and put a notice on the bulletin board at the local gas station for chickens for sale. I figured our income vs outgo with DH's unemployment(provided he is eligible) and we can actually make it work
lol.png
for a while if we HAVE to. I'm still looking for a job though. The cash cow(unemployment) is only made up of so many hamburgers in the first place

No sense dragging the natives down with us if we can help it

I don't believe in that suffer with/for me crapola. I don't know or care about how everybody else feels about it, but I'd rather work for living darn it! Easier to put on my makeup when I can stand what I'm looking at in the mornings

Someone mentioned how can you go back to school (I'm assuming college?) if you are having trouble paying your mortgage... Aid is available and more plentiful if you are a non-traditional student (which I think is 23+ years old at my Alma Matter). Often part of your aid (or low interest loans) includes housing costs. If you have a school nearby, it may be a good idea just to make an appointment with the financial aid office, just to explore if that is an option available to you...

It could be a dead-end, but what have you got to lose just exploring... Hubby was surprised by the package that was available to him... he is almost done and we hope we won't have to pay for another full time semester. But in the long run, having a good job will more than pay off your loans (as long as you are frugal with them and only take out what is necessary). And you may even get grant/aid money...
