Anybody lose their unemployment yesterday?

You know I keep hearing this 10.00 an hour figure. Maximum unemployment per the govt website is 1300.00 a month before taxes. !0.00 an hour equals 1600.00 a month. I think that there are very few people turning down those 10.00 an hour jobs. probably good fodder for talk radio and certain news stations though.

No I know many turning the 10.00 hr jobs down...reason I used that rate...my son took one after taxes they make more on unemployed. Remember city tax ,state tax, ss tax ,and medicare tax all come out of it.......yes it would stink to work 40 hr a week and have to pay that in taxes over what you made on unemployment.........

To make more than DH can draw he would have to get a job making about $12 an hour. You have to figure in the cost it takes someone to drive back and forth to the job and things required to work(leather gloves, steel toe boots, tool replacement, thermals etc.) By the time you figure in all that...your better off to stay home and get some work done around the place really

Unemployment is a joke really. Trust me when I say almost nobody wants to just sit home and draw, but the options and alternatives...well they suck almost as bad in some cases and in some cases, it's worse.

Listen to what she said. The dems say pay benefits and the repubs say it has to be paid for by cutting taxes on the wealthy. That is spend and don't tax....

It is what the repubs have done every time they are in office they cut taxes and spend like sailors on shore leave and the dems get called tax and spenders! Well tax and spend beats the daylights out of spend what you don't have.

The continued insistence that the top will put more money into the economy than the bottom baffles me. If you give people at the bottom money they spend it. If you give people at the top money they invest in financial innovations which do not include things which create jobs.​

Trouble is they have been taxing and spend what they don't have both...All I am saying is cut spending stop adding new taxes. heck tan taxs and so on.

You can pick a side....but both side are spending like crazy.

How can they even do their job...already getting ready on the road for next election.​

I think it depends on what state you are drawing unemployment from that determines the maximum. In California, the maximum is much higher that $1300. But, even if someone took that $10.00 an hour job, after taxes, it would be a lot less than $1600. Around here, working $10.00 and hour after taxes barely covers the rent in a studio or one bedroom apartment in the bad parts of town. I can't imagine if you have dependents and working that wage.

Even then, there's a lot of competition for any job, even minimum wage jobs, and just applying for said job doesn't mean that you'll get it.

As long as they keep extented it, the longer people want take the lower payed jobs.


Not that our tax dollar are being spend better....cut the congress pay to help extend unemployment.

It's amazing to me. There are a bunch of companies out there that have a lot of money on hand. They don't want to invest it in growth though. Instead they invest in derivatives, because of the high return. All those banks and financial institutions that were bailed out are doing great now. Wall Street is doing great. All the wealthy people and companies are doing better than ever. They aren't creating any jobs. At least not in the USA.

Now they got their toadies doing their bidding for them as usual. This country will continue sliding backwards as long as they don't reform campaign finances. The needs of the many outweight those of the few. Why does it always work the other way around?​

Sorry all I am just sick of all the taxes...........really would glad to help anyone the really needing help. Heck I don't even want the tax cut to keep going.....my grandkids will be paying for this mess. This has to Stop sometime sad to say I will not be around when it does. My sons maybe but this will go on for many more years.

If we as Americans would only buy thing made here...this could bring jobs back. Like, Say GM cars ,don't buy those ones made overseas, same with fords.....When these company move plants to other country ...if they couldn't sell those cars here. Bet they would bring those jobs back.
