This is the point that you are confusing instincts with intelligence. They are completely different things.Oh also I have heard that domesticated turkeys are very dumb. Heritage turkeys are wilder so they have better instincts.

You don't think chickens have the ability to learn? Or do you mean turkeys have a greater capacity to learn than a chicken and that turkeys are more intelligent than a chicken? There is no such thing as a Bronze Breasted. They are Broad Breasted Bronze.
Turkeys are far more intelligent than chickens. They have the ability to learn which is a sign of intelligence. You are mistaking instincts for intelligence. You know that they have different instinctual behaviors. Because you prefer the instincts of chickens you make the mistake of thinking they are smart.

It is just a joke. Otherwise I would be talking prices, days to meet, and specifics of where I live. I took that first warning very seriously and it is all just to show off my turkeys. It is against the BYC rules to conduct business in the threads. His name is Grandpa Turkey!I wasn't even sure the first turkey pic posted was real or a joke. It's so cute and alien looking.![]()
Such a sweet story. She’s all mine!!She is the friendliest and prettiest one because she came from a breeder and not a hatchery!
She came as a little egg (along with 5 others) and she was the only egg that looked okay. We didn’t even know if she would make it to hatch! And then the power went out so our incubator died! She’s a miracle baby all the way!
Her egg was cold!
So we stuck her under one of our broody hens (whom immediately accepted the egg and started talking to her) and she hatched perfectly!
She loves to be held and to talk!
