Anybody want to hatch with me? Day 19

Not sure yet. I'm gonna see when I take it out the incubator if I can brace it up so it can stand. If not, it will be put down.

Well, I have 14 hatched and 3 with pips yet. It is now day 22. Everybody's staying in until I get home from work, to give the late hatchers a chance.

Those 2 babies are sweet! Can't wait for photos of the rest of yours. Now, what do you guys do with all your chicks? Are they replacements or sell?

I want to make sure this is made aware and in no way was "Sundownwaterfowl&Poultry" in the wrong for these eggs not hatching.

I finally opened them, one embryo stopped growing at approx 14 days, another had not absorbed its yolk. Then for some reason 6 had broke the membrane into the air sac, and the other 2 were odd looking as in they looked like they were developed but the liquid was dark, like it had an internal bleed.

But I did have Sundown showing on the eggs and in no way do I want their part of the business end to show badly if you are to order from them.
Not only that, its the first batch in the incubator and who knows, but I'm doggone tickled with the 4 I have, they are sharp and sweet!
(and no, sundown did not comment, I wanted to stop any ill breeze before it had any time to.)

Spook, they are adorable. Congrats on the 4 healthy brahmas. Sorry about the one you had to cull. With the 6 chicks that broke into the air sac, did they look "shrink wrapped"? If so, the humidity could have been to low during the hatch. Also, did you have the vents open? last hatch I forgot to open the vents, and sadly some chicks didnt hatch.

I did have 3, 100% hatches, and the chicks are growing and feathering out, they look great. You wont be dissapointed.

I just put 16 more eggs in the bator, due may 1st.

Heck I'm still drooling over Sundowns Brahmas and toulouse. If I could put the $$ I'd have ordered by now. Everyone has hatches go wrong, amatures and professionals alike.

On to my two hatching poults... I decided to wing it and build a small hatcher since I have such a mess here. Had lamp socket, flourescent bulb, and a really thick foam shipping box and two pieces of 8 x 10 glass. I haven't a danged incandescent bulb in the house so temps are running in the 98.6 - 99 range but they're steady.

Here's hoping.

Oh, I'm pretty tickled with the 4 I have, Sundowns lite Brahmas, they are so lively and personable. Zipping and zooming around, playing in water and the cats are so thrilled watching them (in a secure cage! I'd be crushed if one of the cats did anything, so I take No chances!)
Yes, live and learn on the incubating stuff. I used to dry hatch all the time, but who knows with the humidity! I Placed the Turkey eggs from SandS poultry in the bator without the egg cartons, I turn them frequently and have moved the fan to the corner with a custard cup with water. See if I can up the odds.
Please pray to the fowl gods and give me a break on turkeys. I have very little luck with turkeys...

So for 26 more days I'll be walking on shells!
Awesome babies guys!

Finally! Chicks!

I was forced from my watch of the incubator by my husband's family Easter today. When we came home . . . explosions! We now have 4 bantams, 2 buff orp, and 20 coturnix quail!! One little bantam didn't make it

The other 4 are doing well.

The remaining eggs are pipped all over or rocking like crazy. I don't know if the Easter Bunny will get to come tonight . . . I'm not sure I can get to bed before he tries to come!

I napped last night, not slept. We now have 12 more chicks and 6 more quail. I lost another little bantam this morning. Silly little thing, he found the only gap in the waterer rocks big enough to dunk his head! Then didn't pull it out!!! ARGH!

There are still pips galore and rocking eggs. We have at least 25 -30 to go. My nerves are shot!!
