Anybody want to hatch with me? Day 19

Well, my results weren't as good as I wished for- but we have 4 bouncing baby lite Brahmas!

Yes, you see 5. Unfortunately one of these chicks had to be culled. That was one of the most terrible things I've done. But, as a poultry owner/momma its my responsibility to "take care of business".
Now I'll tell you, if you want to hatch, eventually these things will occur regardless to what breed or hatchery, these are the facts of life.
As for the 4 that are left standing, they are as bright, happy and active! On the go, eating and drinking like champs!
So, looking at the good, as a whole I enjoyed watching these little devils hatch and today the Turkey eggs went in...who's with me on the 28th day!?!?!?!?!
Can't wait to see your pics!

very cute!! I'm gonna have a mixed breed. I have one light brahma rooster, the hens are bard rock, buff orps, and light brahmas.

I just saw an egg rocking and today is day 17!! I've at least got one moving, YEAH!!!!!

Woooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo!

I'm amazed at these 4 little ones. I must have everything perfect as they are up getting around, exploring their environment, and then go back to the light to snooze. We hear them "talking" and then when its quiet, their beaks are down! lol!!! I get so amazed by them, they hatch, you show them where things are, dip their beaks and they are pretty self sufficient!
I want to see pics you guys! The miracle of life, regardless to a human child, bovine or a simple egg developing, it is beautiful!

Well I came home to 5 hatched, and then another hatched a couple of minutes later. I currently have 7 pipped, and 11 I can not see any pips on.

Hatched so far are 3 buff orps, 2 EEs and one of miss prissy's b/b/s Orps, which is black, I think.

One of the EEs has a club foot. do I need to cull for that, or can it be fixed somehow?

Thanks for the link, but it wasn't just what I meant. I've fixed spraddle leg before (and had excellent results every time) but this is different. It's like one foot is swollen or bigger than the other. Not seen one like this yet. I'll have to poke around on here and see what I can find.

I'm getting all confused, I thought I knew what breed was what in there, but now an EE just hatched that looks suspiciously the same as what I thought was a black orp, so now I'm wondering if the orp that hatched might not be the little one with the bad foot, that looks kinda blueish I guess LOL. Ah well, I'll post pictures once they come out of the box and let byc-ers ID them LOL.

Started with 11 - 2 didn't grow, 3 hatched, 2 pipped, still waiting on other 4.

I also have another 22 (3 didn't grow/weren't fertile) ... so 19 now that hit day 18 yesterday!!!

So nose to the bator for 23 more chicks! (wishful thinking!)

Here's a couple of the little guys!

Day 19 here -- ~20 banty eggs, 45 standard chick eggs, and 54 coturnix quail eggs. On day 17, nine of eleven button quail hatched! I am starting to see pips, too many tell for sure.

I use a giant retired medical incuabator. The cabinet is about the size of a washing machine! Talk about feeding my addiction!!

I am getting nervous. My bantys haven't pipped!?

As for club foot, is it the whole foot and unable to open and put weight on it, or is it the toes that curl?
The reason I ask, if its the whole foot, I doubt you will be doing it a favor and will get so attached to it (my birds issue) but if its just the curled toes, people claim to make braces out of bandaides for the little ones.
I personally have a 2 year old hen, Frieda, that gets around wonderfully with both feet with curled toes. I always said that as long as a hen can get around, not be in any apparent pain and lives a quality life, they can stay.
That is how I make my choices. You honestly have to be tough hatching them out, good luck everyone!
