anyone build using TSCs Sunnyside coop plans?

The wet would come in above the box so maybe make it a solid lid that is caulked and put the doors to gather from on the vertical side. That way there is an overhang for water to run off of.
One other thing I noticed about the plan is there is no real wall framing. I would think it would need some.

You can see the framing in my coop pic. I used 2x4's since mine is a huge coop but I would think you could use 2x2's on something the size of TSC's coop and be fine.

Mine are 24 inches on center. The one in the center in the back is there just to give me something solid to secure the siding to. In this pic it was still kind of in progress but you can see all the window openings and the hardware cloth is secured to keep critters out. I did find screws called a modified truss head that I wish I had found before I bought all the fender washers.

Nice coop! I am unfamiliar with the states and winters. What are your winters like? I have a 12x14 but had to insulate, vapour barrier (for wind protection), and sheeted the interior wall. We have horrid winters though -58F with 40mph winds though.

Yikes that is COLD! We have cold days here that can get below zero and a fair amount of snow (we are in NE ohio) but our coop will be right next to our shed which has power, should we need it.
At least that's our plan. This is all such a learning experience

As long as your temps don't get crazy low, there are really only two things to worry about. Draft, and moisture. Moisture can be fixed with proper ventilation in appropriate places as not to cause drafts, and drafts cured by looking for holes or gaps around doors windows ect, in my case I need a few 250watt heat lamps as well on bad days.

Thanks. It was a lot of work to make.
Our worst weather gets down to about -20 for the overnight lows and that can last for a week or two. This winter we had 3 weeks that the overnight lows were -15 or so. I do have power to the coop and ran radiant space heaters to get it to about 5 above 0.
We can see snows getting to be about 3 feet deep but that is more rare than regular. This winter we saw about 18 inches accumulated over 2 storms.
The worst winter we had for snow that I can remember was about 4 feet of snow over a 3 day period in the end of November.
We do get winds that whip out of the North. I need to work on the human door this summer a bit since I did have some snow sneak in around the door frame.

I think one like this one would be easier/sturdier/safer to make for your girls. It would also be easier to tend them since it is a walk in coop.
They documented the build well also.
This kind of roof is also easier to make.

Just sayin.

Oh I wish we saw this before we bought material :( I'll have to try incorporating some of these ideas thanks a lot

I used a lot of graph paper to help me in my design for the one I built.
Draw it out to scale. MUCH easier to fix things on paper first.
I did a dog house for my huge dogs and with me having drawn it out and making a cut list it took only about 4 hours to build. DH and his friend did the screwing it together while I did the cutting. MAN it went fast and turned out nicely. I made it 4x6 and 5 foot tall at the peak. The dogs love to play tag with it as home base lol.
All the drawing and erasing sure paid off in the build.
