Here is a link to what I was reading about the serama 'myths'.
http://www.serama.us/seramainfor.html
(If that's not right just search for U.S. serama club).
This is what makes me wonder about the hatch rate being low, this guy claims it is just a myth?
Go figure! I don't know who to believe! lol.
I just know they are the cutest little things!
Didn't mean to give bad feedback, just trying to see if anyone had any experience with this guy. I definitely don't want to deal with someone who is not respectable!
Quiltymare- I am in Virginia and I just want the birds for pets I have about 20 chickens now, a few Polish, 1 silkie, millie fleur, americana,2 cotournix, 1 turkey and a pregnant goat! I would love to have a horse some day but need a barn first!lol

I have Araucana Bantams I just hatched 7 out of 18 and I was very happy, the box was beat up and several air sacks were broken (USPS). I let the person that I got the eggs from know how happy I was, I was hoping for 3 or 4 hatches so when I got 7, I was very happy. He let me know that he had sold someone else 18 also and they were upset that only 16 out of 18 hatched. It all depends how the eggs are handled. I like to hatch the eggs and then put them under a broodie hen. My chicks are all bantam 18 to 20 oz. so not many eggs fit under them. Keep trying it is worth it. If you can get 2 or 3 chicks after each hatch you can raise them just the way you want them, and if you ck the started price, hatching is cheap. Tony

Hello Everyone,My name is Robert and I own and operate http://Medlinfarms.com................First, I would like to thank the members Sharisr32,SkeeredChicken,BeckyLa,bLUE90292 and quiltymare for trying to explain to Acooper7 about shipping and incubating Serama eggs................... I can't say for sure why the hatch didn't work out,I don't have enough details on that but,it sounds like the humidity was too high,if they had piped and stuck in the shell the humidity was too low and yes shipping could have been a factor also. I know the link that Acooper7 provides with my name having a bad rap,it's simply not true. The same person has bad mouthed 5 Serama breeders in 4 different states, none of it is true. This person/site you are refering too bad mouths other Serama breeders (including me) for his own personal gain. I have been breeding Serama going on 6 years now, along with other rare breeds,I built my own website and I am a NPIP Certified Poultry Dealer. I invested alot of money to get started along with countless hours of research and my labor of working with these birds for the past 5-6 years, along with other expenses such as,obtaining each breed, ordering new egg cartons, business cards, shipping labels, digital scales,Digital camera,my time and labor packing and shipping your order, incubators, housing for the birds,feeders/waterers,Feed costs, heat in winter, lights,Fans,EBAY fees,PayPal fees,Gas,USPS Shipping costs and more,That's were the money goes! Please don't think I'm out shopping and having a good time on your payment for the eggs,it's barely a drop in the bucket compared to what I pay to be a breeder and keep things up and running around here. I'm sorry your hatch didn't turn out like you had hoped for but,you wasn't scamed or tricked in any way. I shipped you fresh hatching eggs, anything beyound the point of shipping is clearly out of my control, exspecially with Serama eggs. The 6 that developed proubally died from high humidity,if they would have hatched you would have had MORE than your moneys worth,I normally sell chicks for $20 each. I wish you hadn't posted such negitivty about me,I didn't deserve that at all. I sent you a link to my site with tips on hatching Serama eggs but,I guess you didn't read it. Same as you did, alot of people buy the eggs, with out doing the proper research first, they try to incubate them like regular chicken eggs and that don't work for Serama at all. Anyone interested in ordering live Serama visit http://Medlinfarms.com ,I will have several pages of Live Serama for sale this Fall. I may not be able to ship to all states due to regulations,so check with me first. I have a page on my site that will explain the TRUTH about Serama,if you can take time to read it,plus some good pictures. I put alot of effort and pride into being a great breeder and seller,I don't cheat or trick anyone out of their hard earned money. I have been considering to stop selling Serama hatching eggs,so they may or may not be available. I would like to avoid postings like this so,maybe selling Live Serama would be my best option. I'm sorry for your lose Acooper7 but, shipping hatching eggs through the mail is risky, exspecially Serama hatching eggs. I just hope that you feel better now,you have insulted me as a person and as a breeder many times through out these postings for EVERYONE to see, based on what another breeder said (Lies) and your incubation methods of shipped Serama eggs. I didn't deserve any of it... . Imagine being online doing some research and come across this, finding yourself and your business being insulted like this,geeezzzzzzz...I need to find my bottle of Asprin now,geeezzzzzz.......I would have been chewd up and spit out,if it had not been for the other members here that know the facts about Serama,Thanks Yall!!!......................... In reguards to the ratio,I average 9 roos/15 hens per coop for maximum fertility but, still all of the eggs will not be fertile, that's just how it is with Serama. I incubate and hatch Serama often and from time to time I have humidity problems too,it can happen to anyone,.......... Robert/ http://Medlinfarms.com

I don't know if it is just me, but I think this is a little over the top, and overly dramatic. It sounds like ACooper7 is probably new to hatching and will learn quickly that buying shipped hatching eggs is unpredicatable at best. I don't think we need to have a thread full of insults being thrown back and forth. This is to be a friendly board to share info on, correct me if I am wrong.

I don't think it's over the top or dramtic. I did a Google search to make sure all the pages of my website are showing up and I found this in the search results,so it's not just posted here,it's in Googles search engine too, which means it will soon be in Yahoo and MSNs search results too.I'm trying to run an honest business (website), and there's alot of work and time involved in that. Since the subject is about me and my business I feel I have a right to explain my side,as Acooper7 posts questions me as a person and a breeder. Since there are 2 pages of posts, my post was large to try to cover all of the issues in question and explain my side. I understand that Acooper7 might be new to hatching shipped eggs but,the posts can cause damage to my business. I invested years of work and alot of money to build this business. I have the right to defend myself and my business and I should, atleast try to clear things up. I'm not being dramtic,Acooper7 comments did offend me as a person and breeder. You may not find it offensive, because it's not about you and your business. The subject was about Medlinfarms and I think Medlinfarms should reply to the post,it's only fair to have a chance to defend myself and my business............ In reguards to insults being thrown back and forth, I don't believe I insulted Acooper7, or not intenionally anyways,I actually apologized for the bad hatch more than once and tried to explain things so Acooper7 would understand........................ I would have replaced the eggs or atleast half price,if Acooper7 would have contacted me when the hatch didn't work out,and my ebay feedback (Medlinfarms) proves that,142 positive feedbacks and 1 negitive, I provide good customer service but,I was not notified about the bad hatch or any other concerns.................... Maybe you should read the post again, you must have missed one of my apologies to Acooper7 for the bad hatch and my attempt to explain things where Acooper7 would understand and a behind the seen look at the years of work and investment breeders go through to make quality products available for the consumer. Most people don't think about things like that but,now that it's on the board some people may find that interesting to know but,Thanks for your friendly opinion Sara and for welcoming me to the board!

The original post was 5 months ago and the last one was in July.
Medlin Farms aked that this be deleted, but I feel that based ont he age of the thread and the experiences shared on hatching delicate eggs, it will be left up.

Remember, private beefs with others should be taken private.
