Anyone doing a later year hatch that wants to share stories, experiences and pics?

He's 12 and he does really well with our mixed breed bantam rooster, but he's more cautious around the full size fowl hens? Go figure. He's got his eye on a FBCM rooster for some reason. I found a breeder that breeds for temperament as well as beauty so we're going to try hatching some and see how it goes. I want to have a plan B for him though. Contacting 4-H is a good suggestion, thank you!

Personally, I'm a sucker for the little roosters, myself. Right now, I have a pair of 5-month old OEGB cockerels, a Black Breasted Red and a Red Pyle that would be perfect for a cautious youngster. They're so tame they sit on our shoulders and walk on a leash!

I really want to find a good home for these two, hopefully together. If your son is interested and you can find a way to get them safely from Maryland to Kentucky (it's way too hot to ship, right now.) they're his!

Oh I wish! I'm a sucker for roosters too. I have a real soft spot for game roosters though. The bantams I have in the incubator are OEGB, they're supposed to be a mix of Golden Duckwing, Black, Silver Duckwing, and Mille Fluer. She sends whatever is laying when she ships. There are two bantam Ameraucana eggs in there two, but I'm not sure if they're pure or Ameraucana x OEGB crosses. We will see what actually hatches out. :fl

This is how spoiled our girls are...:gig

The lady we got our eggs from call to check and see how things were going. We told her our story and said we would try again next spring. She said she had four chicks left over from a large shipment and if we wanted them they were ours. So, I will finish the new coop now and we will go Saturday to pick them up. It's not the way we had planed but dangit Inna is going to get her chicks. She said If we put them under her at night that would probably do the trick. 3 Double Blue laced Barnevelders and one Black. I told her we wanted to pay her but, she would not hear of it.

That’s so nice of her! I hope Inna will be a happy hen!

This lady is first class. I will probably just try to make a donation to the farm. The gesture from her is golden to us. Inna has been sitting on and off since March, poor girl deserves a break. She will get the new coop and plenty of space to enjoy. This one is 4x8x4 and will have a 6x16x6 run.
