anyone due on feb. 8th-13th??

One good way to learn candling is to look at a store bought egg in the candler first. Then you can see what an infertile egg looks like.
I was making cookies today and broke an organic brown egg from the store into the mix and it looked like it was fertile!! I am sure it isn't but I put it in the bator so I can check it when I check the "real" ones and have a base to judge by.

I've been looking at store bought eggs when I break them now too. I got some fertile eggs (store bought) & have seen a little white spot surrounded by a clear-looking ring. Is that what it's supposed to look like? I'm going to try incubating some of these.

I'm using the 1602N with a fan.

I got my eggs!!

I'm putting them into the incubator as soon as I'm POSITIVE that the temperature and humidity is stable. I have 4 RIR eggs, and they are just beautiful!

Yeah, I think that is what they look like. Wouldn't it be something if we could actually hatch something from the store? I didn't think they were supposed to be fertile?

Just a little note about incubating eggs. You never wash or wipe an egg that you are going to be incubating. A fresh uncleaned egg does not have to be refrigerated, but one that has been cleaned does. If you incubate cleaned eggs you may learn about the incredible exploding egg!

give it a while, every egg you willbe breaking open will be fertile... once yours start laying that is. thats how it is on my farm.
