Anyone eat Coturnix quail eggs?

We use quail eggs just like chicken eggs. I make delicious cheese omeletes using olive oil. My wife uses them in meat loaf and other dishes requiring eggs.

I always break them in a bowl first since I always get eggs shells in them. I like to get those shells out since I don't like the crunch!

We boil them for salads and dyed them for Easter. And many of my friends will take all I will give them. I don't notice a difference in taste between chicken and quail eggs myself. Any egg that does not come from the supermarket is superior in taste as far as I am concerned.

I figure making meals of the eggs pays for all of the feed, etc. And, then, of course, are the quail themselves. Delicious.

I just got done hard boiling 6 or so last weekend and ended up soaking mine in saltwater for an hour, then threw them into a leftover jar of bread and butter pickle juice for a couple hours. Yummmmmmy!

I've maded deviled eggs with them! Talk about work but they're really tasty! I haven't eaten them any other way myself. But I'm the kind who doesn't eat my ducks' eggs unless they're baked in something, etc.

No tricks, I just try not to use really fresh ones. If I get a hole started I can usually pull the shell off in a spiral, all one piece.

My kids loved when I got a bunch (and I do mean a bunch) of the eggs up and hard bioled them, after shelling them I would wrap sausage around them in to little sausage balls and then fry them up. I would have to save a weeks worth just to make a decent breakfast for them. We have also pickled them and they make bite size snacks.

I have so many quails because I want many eggs lol. Quails are just so easy to care for. And to be honest even though I am sick and in pain 24/7 I just get so much enjoyment out of watching them. I think they know they make me happy. So often I get greeted with a little quail happy popcorn like dance. Hard to explain but so cute and they only do it for me. Anyone have a good recipe to pickle them ? I've not done it before.

poke a tiny hole in the round end then drop into boiling water. the hole will allow water to get between the shell and the membrane. Allow them to cool completley (I usually store them in the fridge overnight) they will peal with ease
