A few weeks back, I started a thread about who else listens to NPR and drives a Ford truck - after my blacksmith came by and made fun of what I was listening to! The thread became a little political - but oh well. *sigh*

Then today the blacksmith was back and I was listening to Mahler Symphony #8. (GREAT piece, by the way!) - and he asked if I had a split personality

He asked me how someone "cool and interesting" listen to "that stuff"! It made me laugh so hard! I told him it was good for him and he should learn to like it. Even country music has roots in classical music!

What are you driving and listening to???

I'm here too.

I drive a Ford Ranger, and love classical music. Recent classical CD in my truck was YoYo Ma.

Went to a lunchtime symphony yesterday -- Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Oh yeah!

I have an Expedition and I listen to classical music sometimes. Especially if we're coming back from shopping and have a long ride. Seems to calm the kids down and helps them nap. My grandmother got me into it. It was the only thing she would listen to on the radio!

There are really only 3 types of music I won't listen to.
rap - screamo - most, but not all country

In all fairness to screamo musicians, it's the vocals i don't like - the music without the vocals I love.

I think classical piano concertos are some of the most beautiful and moving musical pieces ever written.

I'm not fond of rap music due to the vulgarity - There are over 40,000 words in the English language. Repeating the same curses 50 times in a 3 minute song isn't going to help me understand the message or feeling you are trying to convey. Please buy a thesorous.

I will listen to a saxophone in whatever musical form the artist chooses to play. Love the sax

I hope I haven't offended too many you - This is just ONE OLD LADY'S opinion

Yes, several Ford trucks over the years on a list of vehicles too long to list (or remember)

DH went to school for Auto mechanics, but makes a living as a carpenter - education never went to waste. I only have 2 personal requirements when he purchases a vehicle, operational radio and seat-belts. I don't care how it looks, but I've driven a lot of REALLY ugly vehicles.

If you see an old lady driving a truck with more colors then wheels on highway 84 while singing Barry manilow tunes at the top her voice, it might be me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drive a Ford truck and my 6 cd changer has musicals and classical in it compliments of my 18 year old son! He has good taste for a young redneck!

ETA: I personally prefer Western music,, not Country and Western and the way you tell the difference between the two is this:

In Western music you kiss your horse goodnight, in Country and Western music you kiss your best friends girlfriend or boyfriend goodnight!

Sorry, I used to drive a Chevy pickup and listen to classic rock. Now I drive a Nissan Armada and listen to classic rock. But classical is great.

Hi Kelly
I find it annoying when people are so one-dimentional!
I listen to NPR as well sometimes... also to country music. I listen to classical as well... Dvorak Humeresque#7 my favorite.
Get this.... I played classical violin as a teen! To just judge me on daily duds, you'd think I would play "fiddle", but nope!
Unfortantly it is not like riding a bike!

I drive an old old Toyota truck to run errands to the feed store or to pick up hay.
Do you also watch the old black and white movies as well as the recent ones?

Hubby, when he drives the exlporer, has all the disks in the changer as classical. Especially piano concertos. Partial to Chopin at the moment I think....
Or he has the ipod set up to play the music off the final fantasy games. Mostly classical-ish.

For something totally different........ I'm opera, heavy metal and alternative
