Anyone else excited about their garden?

What part of the country are you in? We're in Northern Maine, with lots of snow on the ground...

But.. I'm very excited and can't stand myself waiting. I've got 3 trays of seedlings started... 6 tomato types, 8 peppers, brocolli, brussels sprouts, leeks and 2 different onions. Will be transplanting those into pots later this week and using the trays to start more.

I've got so many seeds I've lost track (not really.. I did up a spreadsheet to keep track!)

I went to Johnny's Seeds in Winslow, Maine yesterday-- got more seeds (for me and for co-workers), pot markers, pots and a broadfork.

Picked up 2 "different' seeds in an Asian grocery store in Massachusetts yesterday-- an Asian Kohlrabi and Chinese Kale.

I've already bought seeds for yellow and green snow peas, french beans and yardlong beans (taiwan black) Another bean called Corne de Belier, and a Roma bean.. Napa Cabbage.

Five color silverbeet chard, giant fordhook chard. More lettuces and greens than I can count (about half a dozen lettuces and at least that many mixes)

Zuchinni, Waltham Butternut squash, Australian butter squash,
Charantais melon, Golden midget watermelon.

2 types of orange carrot, a red and a purple carrot. Albino beets and 2 different kinds of pak choi.

White pumpkin, fairytale pumpkin.

Dill, basils, oregano, stevia, chives, parsley, chervil.

Zinnia, sunflowers, baby's breath, sweet violet. A whole bunch of flowers I just got from wintersown.org also.

Also putting in hops rhizomes this year.

And can't wait for the asparagus to come up!!!!

Edited to add:: The majority of my veggies are heirloom seeds so I can start my seed saving endeavors this year ( my second year gardening as an adult

yes I am very excited and little veggie babies exploding out of their seed trays but alas, Mother Nature is not cooperating...we just got snow again. *sigh*

Nursenettie- hey we're in southwest VA so we have quite a head start on you guys in northern Maine

I am very excited about my garden this year! We bought our house in November we have less than 1/4 acre, with no garden area, so far i have been able to set up some raised beds in an area where we can fence off from the chickens and ducks. I planted some raspberries and my fiance is working on putting in a fence and a bed for strawberries today. We have started some spinach and lettuce and jalapenos inside so far. I still have to get some dirt for my beds, we have very rocky soil here. I am planning on corn, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, peas, cucumbers, pumpkins, tomatoes as well as what I already have started. This is my second year having my own garden, its been very exciting so far!

our garden is planted now, still trying to get use to when to plant in Florida, but I did get the tomatoes and peppers started in the house, still not early enough but they are doing ok.... can't wait till next week when we see little sprouts

I'm so exited! I'm gonna plant tomatoes, okra, herbs, peppers, and cucumbers! And maybe a few flowers!

I can't wait!

Just started tomatoes inside and will be planting potatoes too early this weekend before headed back to school.

Unfortunately, I'll be driving 300 miles each way once a month for garden overhaul and maintence.

This will be year two for our garden this year. Last year we put in 12 large raised beds. I got crazy with heirloom tomatoes and they did horribly. (we had bad weather this last year in Oregon) This year I am going with the varieties of tomatoe that grow well in Oregon. My heirlooms got blight. Peppers last year also did poorly.

My snap peas and Beans did well last year but I had planted yard long asian beans, and they did bad as well. I think again our weather was to blame.

So I am re vamping my plan. I will have snap peas and beans, tomaotes, spinach, broccoli, kale and some other winter hardy plants as we made a cloche. I am hoping to winter over some greens this year. I also picked up some banana squash. They grow huge. I love the taste. I hope we get hot enough weather for them to do well. I like to put it in the freezer. I am not doing any other squash this year. I am also waiting to do direct sow. last year I started so many things indoors and then the weather just did not warm up enough to plant them.

There is a little old man that has a garden every year near our house. I will start planting when I see him planting. He planted very late last year. He was right. Our spirng was just too cool.

Can't wait for warmer weather. I am tired of winter. I want to garden!!!
