Anyone else expecting chicks around 10/06?

Mine are due tomorrow, no pips yet and I can't hear anything but they are in a giant 70gal heavy duty cooler so I don't know if I would hear them through it, anyway. I am sooo tempted to open it and listen to one, but I won't! lol I have 7 olive egg mixes from my best hen and my EE rooster. :)

How's everyone's eggs doing? We are losing a few eggs here and there. They've been cracking and funky liquid gels up around the crack. Not looking to good for us. Hope all the others are doing better.

I couldn't take going in blind anymore. lol So I was evil and opened the bator to check out the eggs. (Luckily it doesn't seem to have affected the humidity much, and it was over 80% in there anyway, so now it's back to 75%). I had 7 eggs, all from the same hen so laid about a week and a half apart from first to last and numbered in order. 1-4 were all full (just darkness and air pocket), 5 was half-developed (so obviously not going to get a hatch there), and 6&7 were both dark and air pocket. So it looks like I might get 6 out of 7 if I'm lucky! Now I swear I will leave them alone...I just really wanted to know because I have more eggs coming and didn't want to be waiting on nothing. :D So excited!

Yay, first little baby is out of it's shell and lurching about and cheeping. More cheeping and pipping going on in the ' bator too. I might end up staying up all night to watch ;-)

this morning there were 9 hatched and shortly afterwards 2 more popped out. Hoping a few more live ones in there yet. These are all my bantys. No signs of life yet from the Welsummer eggs (which is why I was hatching in the first place! otherwise I wouldn't want chicks this late in the year!) But it does tell me that the diet my hens are getting is sufficient, since at the moment the hatch from the bantys is like 84% and will possibly go higher. That is some good info to know! (I feed a mix of wild bird seed containing no corn or soy with wheat, sprouted, along with table scraps, produce spoils and occasionally some earthworms. Our soil contains a lot of minerals, but I do dump out a pile of oystershell occasionally as well as feed back eggshells.)

Hi I am getting ready to hopefully hatch 10 rouen mixs'. We are on day 26 here with no pips or cheeps..... Congrates to yall for your chickies!!!!
