Anyone else feed bacon fat strips to your chickens?

Quote:
My chickens are too picky. I would have to crush the cat food and then, they might also demand I make it moist for them...lol

When we have bacon, usually there's a strip of fat which won't microwave very well. I scissor it off and cut it into little bits and add the bacon fat scraps to a laying pellet/hot water mash my girls get morning and evening.
This is when they get their leftover scraps, drained veggie juice, chopped up apple cores, spent tea and coffee grounds, etc. Sometimes I throw in a handful of scratch, BOSS, horse sweet feed, or birdseed.

Watch out....The extra sodium is soooo bad for them... If thier combs are turning blue..you have problems....

That video was really cute, the only reason I wouldn't feed it to my chickens is the nitrates,

horrible stuff

Ha ha; when I cook bacon, I do it real low temp. I then eat the fat and give away the meat. I only eat bacon for the fat. I even save the "bacon oil" in a jar, for cooking my eggs
