Anyone else getting ready for some new baby hatching?

Yay for all the new chickies! You are absolutely right Momhunter, it is so much fun for all ages. I have a 2 year old and she loves to lift up the little towel I have over the window of the incubator and look into it and see the eggs.

Just removed the 12 oldest and driest chicks from the bator, along with empty shells. Placed them in brooder and pushed the beaks into water. Several went to pecking crumble sprinkled on the paper towels. Left five that are still a little wet in the bator. I moved the unhatched eggs closer to the front to watch. One was to light weight so candled and chick was not moving and way to small, only taking up 2/3 of shell. Opened and the yolk hasn't finished internalizing but no odor yet. Don't know why that one died. I have 3 still not pipped, one pipped and one zipping now. Are the three unpipped ones not going to make it???

The three that are not pipped yet may just be late to the party. I have some in almost every batch that does that, they will probably hatch by tomorrow. So glad that you are having a good hatch rate. Congrats on the new chickies

I like to remind hatchers, mine all hatched on days 22/23 so hang in there.

I have 3 chicks so far (two that looks awesome, one that doesn't look so thrifty - not sure what I'm gonna do with that one yet) and two more eggs pipped. This would be day 22. Thanks for the reminder! We're waiting! One of our neighbors came over last night just in time to help bottle-feed baby goats and see chick #3 hatch! It was very exciting!

So far we have one light chipmunk (the one that doesn't look like it's doing so well), one dark, reddish chipmunk, and one mostly black chick (from a light brown egg - either a barred rock or a partridge chantecler egg). The rooster for these was a RI Red.

They sure are some cuties! I had one that didn't look so good either, we left it in the bator overnight because it would not stand up, and then by the next morning it was up and wandering around doing good. Fingers crossed for the little one.

This morning I have the one that was starting to zip last night doing well. Still no change in the other eggs. Was really hoping to have more chicks this morning. The hatch started thur night with the first chick, 7 during the night, then the rest yesterday. Still have one pipped and three just sitting there driving me nuts!

Comgrats on your babies CarolineNH

We now have 5 chicks, and a couple of others in the 'bator showing signs.

This is one of my Border collies, River, who is totally enamored of the babies, even chasing the cats away from the brooder!
