Anyone else hatching Feb. 1st?

Quote:
What day were they on? I know they take longer, but I thought I had veins pretty early when i hatched pekins. I'm sorry it's not going good.

These would be on at least day 13 or 14, and there is simply nothing there. They look just the same as they did when I got them. I too saw veins very early on in my pekins and cayugas, by day 5 on most, day 7 on the rest. These should be about halfway dark by now, and they are completely clear.

I'm sorry to hear about your duck eggs, shelleyd2008.

I feel your disappointment as well. My kids just got rid of the 12 brown eggs we were trying. There was still no development in them at day 9 1/2, and they looked clear. We cracked one open to double check. Nothing happening in it. Cracked each of the others slowly. Nothing ever started to develop in any of them, but we were not optimistic about that set because they were 12 days old and had been refrigerated during those days. The other dozen had 9 out of 12 develop so far, but one looks like it has a blood ring and has stopped growing around maybe day 5 or 6. We left it in for now since we are novices and might be wrong. Therefore, we probably only have 8 currently still incubating.

Just candled at 14 days. Pulled a few, but looking pretty good. My BBS Orps from Tuffoldhen looking good. Pulled 4 out of 14, and the rest are very active and have good veining-very impressive. Not bad for being in the hands of the PO for 5 days. The Marans are really dark, so it's kinda hard to tell, but they look pretty iffy. I'll have to wait and see what those do. All of my Sebright, Silkie, and D'Uccles from my hens are looking pretty good. Can't wait till hatch day!!

Anyone else candle??

I'm gonna try to hold out on candling again till I take the turner out on Thursday. I did peek at three that don't have in the turner last night and one I believe to have a blood ring but I left it just in case.

8 of our 9 good remaining eggs were moving around in the eggs well when we checked last time. However, we checked a couple last night and no movement. I am worried they may have stopped developing. We are only on day 12. Shouldn't it still be easy to see movement of the embryo?

I hope we don't have to start all over again. Waiting on the kids (and me) is so hard.

I cant see what I want to see either... but I do think I am seeing something !! These brown eggs are harder than the white ones I used to candle. Looks like I am going to have to rig up a real candling apparatus rather than a holding a weak shakey flashlight !

congrats to everyone who candled successfully. sorry to hear about the duck eggs, shellyd.

mine aren't due out until the 7th, and I'm trying to wait until at least day 10 to candle them... so a few more days yet!

Glad that everyones egg are doing great! I am sorry about your eggs ShellyD. My eggs are still doing good 10 are developing nicely. It is day 12 for me.

Well...I decided to candle and wish I hadn't. All my blue eggs are no more. I only had 11 eggs and none of them looked like they had any development in them.
