Last night I set 35 eggs in the bator. They are all mutts. They are eggs from Golden comet hens and a golden comet rooster. I also set some from Black sexlink hens and the same golden comet rooster.
I am going to try to candle this weekend. Sunday will be 7 days. Not sure how much luck we will have being first timers and dark brown eggs. I have a nice bright maglight but have never tried this before.
I set 18 eggs yesterday morning. This is my first time, I have a LG seems to be a bit of a challange to regulate the temps. The eggs are mostly BO with a few mixed and 1 EE. I just hope I don't kill them.
I generally candle on day 8 or 9 and then again on day 17 or 18.
I use a small LED flashlight that I got at Walmart. It is extremely bright and works great.
I use to drive myself crazy candling. I'd buy a new flashlight, I'd candle; I'd have a slight temp spike/dip so I'd candle to see if they are bouncing; I'm bord so I'd go candle.
I finally came to realize that for their sake, leave them alone. I candle on around day 7 and then day 18.
See, we are discussing candling and now I just have the urge....
