Anyone else have an unreliable broody?

I have a hen that becomes broody every year and will give up on the eggs after about a week. Sometimes she’ll come back to them for two more days later on, but usually she won’t. The eggs spend more time cold than warm, so I don’t trust her to lay on them anymore. I keep snatching them and sticking them under my only reliable broody. I don’t know why she does this but it’s a bit funny. Like she wanted to play mom for a couple days and then got bored. Anyone else have one like this or know why she might be doing this?

I wish more of mine were like this! Sometimes the pullets won't be super committed and I can get them to quit by just harassing them a bit (biffing them off their nests a few times and taking all the eggs). But no, generally all mine sit and sit hard. How old is your hen?

Sorry I never replied, unfortunately a mink killed her shortly after this post, but she was 10. It did not get my reliable broody at least, so I have a full flock back now. Maybe she was just getting too old for mom life hahaha

My sister would disagree that anyone could get too old for mom life lol. She's raising her grandkids lol
