anyone else have japanese bantams?

On your 6th photo - the two black - hen's I think - are rosecombs - I have two of them - the roo with them died of old age. They don't lay well at all - they could be old too. They were given to me last fall. Nice birds.

Japanese Bantams come in Black Tailed Buff, Black tailed White, Black & several other colours. None of the birds you have pictured appear to me to be Japanese Bantams. They do appear to be cross breeds.
You refer to #7 as a "Belgian" by which I assume you mean Antwerp Belgians or D"Anvers. If so, she's not as they are rose combed birds and she's single combed. The suggestion that your 2 black females are of the Rosecomb breed is obviously wrong since they too are single combed.
With the exception of the Mille Fleur d'Uccle and the Silkies every thing else appears to be a cross breed bantam. Makes for a colourful, interesting looking flock.

Whatever cross created Jane, I think must be very similar to whatever resulted in my Brandy! Wish we knew for sure how to breed birds like these! I love your Lou roo, too!

flip9109, I have 6 black chickens like the ones in your picture 6 and 8. I bought them at auction and havent' figured out what they are yet. A question: do yours ever fan their tails? Mine typically keep their tails pointed up, but every once in a while, they fan their tails out like a fan-tailed pigeon. Mine also have short little legs. Did you ever figure out what breed your black ones are?
