Anyone else seeing gas prices go UP again?!

Back up to $2.00 here in Kalamazoo and I thought I heard the Crude price closed below $41.00 yesterday which is lower than the day before and the price at the pump went up. I have stopped trying to figure it out it makes me crazy. Not to mention I thought the price drop would affect home heating costs then I find out they buy the natural gas in the spring so the price we pay this winter comes from the price per barrel last spring which was outrageous well I guess this is enough ranting it just stings a little since I just opened my energy bill for last month just a mere 370.00 for one month that hurts.

Same thing happened here. We do our gas prices by litre, so it went from $.69 a litre to $.78 overnight.

It makes me sick to my stomach really. A few people start crying wolf and it drives the gas prices up. It's all speculation....speculation is not reality! If a war really does have an effect fine, but guessing at it??

I have often wondered if there are kickbacks given to the "speculators" for driving the prices up??

Ours hit a low of 1.79 about 10 days ago, then went right back to 1.89. So far, after a week, it's held steady there. I'm hoping it doesn't move anymore than that.

They never talk about speculators on NBC, ABC, etc
I saw the mention of speculators on PBS of all places!

Makes you wonder doesn't it !

Well, if you think about it....where does the speculation of what gas prices are going to do come from? Someone has to get the rumor mill started so to speak, then everyone starts to panic and the prices shoot upward. It's all hearsay....not reality!

It drives me nuts that we act like a bunch of sheep and allow this to happen. Only problem is, how do we change it....the only way we can is to stop relying on gas as much as we do. The technology exists to make greener, non-gas running cars. It's just being held back by the huge oil companies.

I hear about "speculators" in the news around here quite often. "Speculators say that....." is usually how it is worded.

I know there are other factors....but, you have to wonder.

It works really well actually. If a few people on this board suddenly started speculating that 'silkies' were going to go extinct, what do you think would happen to the demand for silkies?

Not looking good. I wish those foreign countries could just get over it and leave each other the devil alone! It affects our gas prices every time they do something stupid.
