Anyone else setting eggs this weekend? 8-3-12?

I will candle them all. I usually just take the top off of my incubator, sit down with the candler and do them all. :)

I think it is much safer for them to cool a bit than to get too hot. When a broody sets them, she will get up daily and go eat and drink, take a dust bath etc. So taking them away from the heat to candle should not be a problem.

I was wondering, since tomorrow will be day four in the incubator for the chicken eggs, about adding a dozen quail eggs to the mix. The quail will need seventeen days and that's what the chicken eggs will have left. Anyone see an issue with doing this or is it a go?

Do they need the same temps and humidity? If so, I don't see why not.

Candled all 6 and they are ALL doing beautifully with very nice veining! YAY! I'm wishing for 100% hatch rate!

My temp with fan and egg turner is 99.5 and humidity varies a little. I try to keep around 45-50% give or take 5%. So far so good! I hope I'm doing this right.

I'm so eggcited!!!! I got 12 FREE Ameracauna eggs for free! I now have 18 pure bred Ameracauna eggs in the incubator! I hope it works out, there is 5 days in age difference! Once the first set reaches day 18, the second set will finish by me turning them instead of using the egg turner. I have the second set marked very clearly. There's one I got today that's a few days old, there's clear veining.

Hubby said I could keep a few and sell hatching eggs myself. I'm hoping to get a rooster from the first set of 6 and a few hens of the second set of 12!

Beautiful eggs!

I have ten more eggs that will be here tomorrow from Jordan farms, six Cream Legbars and 4 Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons. They are going into another incubator of their own though. Then I should have another six eggs coming next week as well. :) I am going to have to play musical eggs in the two incubators when it comes time for hatching, but it will all work out just fine. So glad I have two!
