Anyone else setting eggs today - 1/31?

Ohh me!! I set 42 eggs, 15 ee's and the rest barnyard mixes. My last hatch was a complete flop, only 4 out of 27 made it. Going for a full brooder this time. Good luck to everyone! :D

Hey Simz,

I think you had a typo on your hatch date. I figure we should be hatching on Feb 21st or 22nd. I just noticed it and wanted mention it to you.

I hope you get your temperature stabilized, too!

Thanks for pointing out the date mistake. :) I meant that I wanted to have some chicks hatched to take to our Wednesday class that week, but the date is wrong for that, too - it would be the 22nd. lol

I hope the chicks know their dates better than I do, right?!

I hope you get it to stabilize!
What type of homemade incubator are you using?

I have a thick styrofoam chest, like a big Omaha steak box, it has a light bulb for heat and a modified water heater thermostat and a CPU fan. I have had great luck with it. I did get my temps right last night! It only took the one tweak. I wish it was big enough for an auto turner! I am considering getting a Hovabator Genesis this year so I can have a turner. We'll see.

I set 28 eggs on the 31st from my flock and I also have eggs coming to me next week that will go in another incubator on 2/10.

So anticipation got the best of me and I candled my eggs this morning. It looks like 2 of my 5 are making great progress! So...I'm doing something right. :)

Me too!!!

I am sure that 21 out of 24 are developing, the other 3 are maybes, I will check them again in a couple of days.

Some Ameraucana eggs are SO hard to see through!! I am excited about these pretty blue eggs, I can't wait to see my little puffy cheeked babies!
