Anyone else want to stomp on their incubator?

I should be having the thermometer on top of the eggs? I have it on the wire....

Yes, it should be at the egg top level.

Temps vary a lot with height and if you have the fan installed in the bator.
I believe all Genesises have the fan.

Yes it does have a fan. Oh boy, now I have to start all over again.

Thank you, really...I appreciate the help. I just wish it would co-operate faster.

I got some turkey eggs from OkCarla that did really well. They are out pecking about in the brooder now. I did have to help two of them out of the shell, and they NEVER would have made it on their own, they were just superglued in there.

And my 1588 Genesis, which is new, ran pretty hot. I have notched it down one step, and actually, it still seems a little hot, although there are cool spots in there (in spite of the fan). I am going to run it the way it is and we will see.

You can't just go by the way it is set. And I am not sure I like their instructions, which are to run it with some cheap eggs and see what happens. I am not sure I could find any eggs that I flat out don't care about at all.

Uh-Oh! I have been trying to get mine to regulate with the wire in the bottom of the tray. I notice a swing in temps with the accurite as the trays rotate. Now at day 7, threw 2 out yesterday because of cracks, not sure how that happened, candled tonite, looks like 16 developeing and one questionable. Developement looking slow for 7days compared to some of the pics I have seen. Temp set at 99.3-99.5, with the accurite, and 100 with the glass that came with the Octagon 20. Should I turn up the heat?

NO!!! It's egg level in the styro bators, not the tilting ones like the Eco.
Temp variations of 1 degree are normal and acceptable. I ran my Oct40
at 101 at the tray level.

Cracks could have already been there or the eggs may be banging around during turning.
I think they were already there.

Yep Iggimom, my issues exactly.

I wouldn't mind the incubator being a little off, but all 3 of mine are way off. I finally got mine regulated to the safe zone. It has taken me at least 5 hours for the three of them. They would go HOT and then they would go low (85) The switches are tiny and don't always give the result that they tell you will happen if you move them.
Ah... it's still fun though huh? We could be cleaning the house......

I've tried this and it doesn't work for me. I keep mine at 100 degrees (more or less) still or forced air, with the thermo midways of the eggs. How in the world are you supposed to get the thermo at the top of the egg anyway?? I just lay mine (white walmart cheapos) on top of the turner rack.

Oh, and the first rule of incubating is to toss the thermometers that come with the incubators, they are junk!!!
