Anyone else want to stomp on their incubator?

I am way addicted. Never knew this was in me!

I am so sorry to hear about your losses. That had to be very difficult.

Starting fresh can be exciting though and with your experience you will know just which ones you want to have.

Purple chicken, I just got some quail eggs in the mail. Anything else I should know about them? Is humidity the same as for chicken eggs?

I have not done quail eggs before.

Not that I have had a lot of luck with chicken eggs! For some reason I seem to do better with turkeys and Guineas.

I've only tried turkeys once and it was a flop.

Quail like a higher humidity. I go 60% until day 14 and then 70% until
hatch, usually around day 17.

Quail are fun to hatch. They are crazy little buggers. Enjoy them.

I keep asking and haven't gotten alot of replys.

What do people usually do with the quail they hatch? Eat them, make pets of them, let them go?

I would really like to know

Most plane crashes are caused by pilot error-rarely is there something wrong with the plane.
The same could be said to be true of incubators.

I think the ultimate goal is to eat them. If you release them, they go off. They don't stay around like Peacocks or something.

Or chickens.

At least this is what I have heard. I have never had Quail before. These, assuming they hatch, will be the first I have had.

I do plan to eat them, but I cannot kill things. There is a custom poultry place nearby and they can do it!

Well thank you. I think I will check into one of those processors here too.
I don't mind the butchering (done that) but boy it takes time especially if you have alot.

That is such a true statement! And what works for one person might not work exactly the same way for another due to the climate where you live. I run mine much drier than lot of people do the first 18 days, but it's what works for me.

Some of the air cells on some of the eggs are a little smaller than others.

Should I cut down on the humidity to get the cell at least 1/3 gone by oh....day 16-17? Earlier? How big is too big for the aircell to be?

Only 1 chick did not hatch out of the last batch, but I keep wondering if she drowned? I wasn't paying attention to the air cell space when I candled, just the humidity.
