Today I set 5 eggs in the incubator!! It is my first batch

SOO EGGCITED!!!

They wil be a surprise as in the pen there where about 9 Hamburgs (1 roo, 8 hens) 5 Silkies (! roo, 4 hens) and a frizzle hen so thery are a surprise!!
HEHEHE Im SOOO excited.....

Is anyone else gonna share a similar hatch date?!?! and the excitement of candling????

I will be setting Quail eggs on the weekend..They will end up hatching around the same time as yours.... But I dont like my chances of being able to candle them...With all those speckled bits on them...

Good luck with your hatch,I love checking the eggs so I have to make myself stay out of the bators.
I have 4 diffrent hatch dates the last ones where put in monday wich would be the 9 Light/Buff Sussex eggs.
the others where 14 bantam eggs from pamperedpoultry
9 eggs of my own found hidden
then 4 dozen of my own 3 dozen LF eggs and 1 dozen bantams,I am hoping for some nice red sussex out of my eggs.

I'm collecting turkey eggs this week hoping to set some this coming Sunday. Been tweaking the incubator for several days now learning its behavior.

I put a dozen of our bantam b/b/s cochin and silkie eggs under my broody silkie this afternoon, so I'll share a hatch date with you. This is the silkie's first time broody, but I'm feeling confident that she'll do well. If she does, I'll buy her eggs to hatch next time.

I'm candling tonight. I'm a little worried, because I candled 3 last week and didn't see much. I really need these eggs to hatch, because my friend wants babies, and I need a chick or two to replace my cochin hens that I've recently lost. Wish me luck!
