Anyone ever do the master cleanse?

Yep!! That's what I thought this thread was about.

Here's a unique idea, why not simply eat a healthy, balanced diet.

Can some one explain in layman's terms how these "detoxifications" work and exactly what "toxics" are expelled from the body.

Lead? Cadmium? Mercury? Chromium? Krytonite? It would seem to me that if you had all these toxics in your body it would take a little bit more than a week of bustin your gutts to fix.

Is this anything like them Karaoke foot pad jobs? From what I see on TV it seems like them people don't need to detox, they do however need to wash their feet. See the thread concerning walkin in the chicken coop without shoes.

My wife says I could use some detoxing. Well I do my best to detoxify every morning, right after coffee. I find that an apple a day really helps with my morning detox. AND I FEEEEEEEELLLLL GREEEEAT!!!!!!

Exactly how does one decide their body is "out of balance"?

I once went to a chiropractor, he had 2 plain old bathroom scales, had me stand on the scales, one foot on each scale. The scales were then read and behold I was nearly 10# heavier on the right scale. He began telling me the embalance was the reason my back hurt. I told him the right scale was heavier because I carried my wallet on my right hip.

All joking aside, many times I hear people talking about embalance and toxics, really how does one tell? I hear these long explanations regarding colons, blood, complextion, liver, kidney and "feeling". However the one outstanding thing I always notice is the lack of any scientific evidence or credibility.

A healthy "balanced" diet with physical activity will keep your body in "balance".

Very few people eat a healthy balanced diet. Any doctor worth his salt will tell you that small amounts of fasting and cleansing can be helpful for SOME. Not everyone though. Personally, I've tried cleansing diets and after a few days felt like crap. A couple days later I felt much better though. It's the same when people go from eating like an omnivore to a vegetarian or to only eating raw foods. It has to be done slowly so you don't shock your system and make you extremely sick.

At my shop, Talisman, I have a chair masseuse in twice a month - Tammie is licensed, clinically trained (2 years of schooling) and works for a chiropractor during the week. Yesterday (Saturday) she and I were talking about cleansing toxins from the body. She told me that at the office they offer an ionizer foot bath that is amazing. You start with those foot pads on the soles of your feet (they are advertised, "from Japan" and supposedly turn black after you wear them all night. I researched - they are a hoax). But then you put your feet into a bath of clear water and there is an electrical circuit that releases ions that pull the toxins out. Now, she has had this treatment herself. She said (and note that she is a very health-conscious person) the water started out clear, but gradually turns dark and disgusting, looks like diareah (I can NEVER spell that right and it is sick to think about anyway - eew) and there were even little wormy parasites. She said it was the grossest thing but still amazing. Pulls toxins from your liver, digestive system, skin, etc. It costs $65.00 at the office and I asked her to write up the exact details so I can put it in my December newsletter - I'll gladly send her chiropractor the business if it is that effective. Tammie told me she has watched other people have the "treatment" and the result is always the same - clear water in, sludge afterward.

I can post details after she sends them if you would like. I need to get the exact name of the treatment. I'm sure this is offered at other holistic care practices as well. I don't think a master cleanse is a good idea, even a colonic disrupts the natural balance of your bowels. Eat lots of veggies, prune juice and let nature do its thing!

Wow! There's nothing like a post about food to get everyone's feathers up, lol! For those of you concerned about diet, I hardly ever eat bread, rice, pasta or potatoes and my daily meals consist mostly of fruits and veggies with lean meat added at dinner. I do think there are many benefits to fasting... now for 10 days I don't know. Anyway, I have a condition that when I eat anything sour/high in acidity my tastebuds 'burn' off (don't know how else to explain it). So, really, I can't do it anyway - and realized after doing the cleanse for a day.

We were just talking about this at work. Someone at works has done this. This is what it is.

One reason that the master cleanse recipe works so well is because of the ingredients in the drink. A master cleanse recipe drink contains only three things, but they are incredibly powerful. The first ingredient is fresh-squeezed lemon juice, which is high in vitamin C, kills bacteria, and dissolves gallstones and kidney stones. The second ingredient is Grade B maple syrup, which contains over 15 important nutrients, including potassium, iron, vitamin A, and several B vitamins. It also has 100 calories in every two tablespoons, so it helps stave off hunger. Finally, the drink contains cayenne, which has been called the most powerful herb in the world. It is such a strong blood regulator that it can reverse the symptoms of a heart attack, and it also breaks up mucus and cleanses the body.

After completing a master cleanse, many people report immediate improvement to their health. They generally have more energy, fewer cravings and clearer skin. In addition, they often lose as many as 14 pounds. Many people even experience alleviation from the symptoms of chronic diseases. This is because, as Dr. Burroughs explains in his classic book, all diseases are caused by an accumulation of toxins in the body. However, the master cleanse should not be done in isolation; it should be the beginning of a total lifestyle change. Once you have made that change, you will feel so good that you will never want to go back to the life you lead before.

Master Cleanse Recipe
The master cleanse recipe is a 10 day detox cleansing liquid diet with a 2 day preparation and a 3 day period after of returning to solid food. It consists of the more well known terms: Salt Water Flush and Lemonade Diet.

Preparing for the master cleanse:
For 2 days prior to the start of your 10 day master cleanse you will want to start reducing your caloric intake by lowering the size of your meals, drink more fluids ( water and home made juices only, no sodas ). During the average master cleanse day your caloric intake will be about 1,200 calories a day which is significantly lower than what the average person eats based on a 2500 calorie diet. So, you want to ease yourself into it for the couple of days prior.

10 Day Master Cleanse:
The Lemonade Diet - the recommended amount is 6 to 12 glasses a day of this lemonade recipe which provides 100 calories per serving due to the organic grade B maple syrup. You'll do this for 10 days. No other food is needed.
Only use the highlighted ingredients below for best results
• 2 tablespoons of Organic Grade B Maple Syrup
• 2 tables spoons of Organic lemon juice (Freshly Squeezed - About 1/2 a lemon)
• One tenth ( 1/10 ) of a tea spoon of Cayenne pepper - Organic
• a 10oz glass or clean filtered drinking water

You will drink it 6 to 12 times a day. Whenenver you feel hungry, make a glass. Do this for 10 days. More on the lemonade diet.

During The First 5 Days:

During the first 5 days of following the master cleanse recipe you will be doing what its called a salt water flush. The flush is an inexpensive way to clear your bowels by following the recipe below.

- 2 Tea spoons of Natural Sea Salt - Non- Iodized only!
- 32oz. (1-quart) of room temperature or lukewarm water

Mix the 2 ingredients together and just drink it down. The first bowel movement will soon follow within the hour. More on the Salt Water Flush.

Going Back To Regular Eating:
The next 3 days after the 10 day lemonade diet including 5 days of the salt water flush cleanse, you will need to ease yourself back for 3 days until you can start eating regular solids again. You've gone for 10 days without solids such as meats. 10 days without fattening whites such as refined sugars, white breads, flower tortillas, corn tortillas ( mostly are made with GMO corn ) and white rice. These are usually the main culprits for fattening Americans. You've also gone 10 days without MSG and artificial sweeteners, food additives and other toxic chemicals which are added to processed foods. And, 10 days without mucous producing dairies.

You gave your body a break allowing your digestive system to rest.

Day 1- Drink multiple glasses of home made freshly squeezed orange juice. Eat a fresh fruits such as blueberries and raspberries. Chew your food thoroughly. Drink 8 glasses of water minimum.
Day 2 - Anything from Day 1 and introduce a light salad. remember to always chew your food completely.
Day 3 - Introduce 2 bigger salads of greens, tomatoes and other vegetables and legumes such as lentil beans.
Day 4 - Meats and Dairies maybe re-introduced. However keep these foods a minimum for a healthier lifestyle.

I have done 2 different things. One was a cleansing diet where you cut out everything that makes living worthwhile. No salt, sugar, alcohol or animal products. It was hard to get started but I was very lean and had more energy than what I knew to use. The other one is actually drinking a glass or two of 1 tsp. ACV with some warm water in the morning. It is supposed to cleanse you too. I have done it for 4 days now and lord and behold, it makes me feel quite good. Cannot speak for any long term effects though.
