Anyone ever had a laprascopic abdominal surgery?

I agree. I had my hysterectomy done laproscopically, although there were complications during the surgery itself; causing it to take 4 1/2 hours vs. the hour and a half they predicted.
I was walking around the hospital hallways the same night, home the next day and back to work in a week (against dr.'s advice).

I would have your doctor check.

In 2004 I had a Laparoscopic abdominal exploratory surgery. They found nothing & I still had problems. I was sore for 3-4 days. Then I was back out doing poultry chores (a little sire but good as new 3 days after that). Then I had an open abdominal exploratory, where they had all my guts hanging out, and the found & repaired a hiatal hernia. They also did surgery for GERD (Nissin Fundoplication). I was in the hospital (very sore) and on Morphine for 5 days. Went home and was in bed sore for 3 more days, then back out doing the chores and riding my horse. Sadly the GERD surgery didn't work.

Are you on Prevacid or Nexium? The Prevacid did wonders for me back 10 years ago when I started taking it. Haven't had any episodes since. I used to wake up almost every night with acid reflux if I ate less than 5 hours before bed.

My doctor wants me on Aciphex, the only pill that actually works for me (believe me, I have tried ALL the others, and none of them work for me), but my insurance does not cover it and it is $350 a month. No can do. I can get samples from the doc sporadically, when they have them (they go fast), and for the rest of the time I suffer. Just had 2 nights in a row of belching up soup and stomach acid. What kind of health insurance doesn't cover a much needed drug like Aciphex?? I have BCBS. ???

That sucks. Reflux is horrible. I have BCBS of Il. The Prevacid was around 350 a month when I started using it and it had a 40.00 copay but they covered it. Now it's available generic. It's OTC too but not the same stuff. Seems like they could get something else for you. Other option is a geriatric diet

Nothing else works like Aciphex, which I can't get my hands on. Geriatric diet?? No way! I am too much of a picky eater. Guess for some of us, life just has to suck.

i had my gall bladder out when i was 20 and had a 1 yr old at the time and a dog i remember sitting with a pillow in my lap and not being able to pick my son up for a week. my mom came and took care of him and i took everyone of those pain pills.
when i got my tubes tied 5 yrs later i had 3 kid 6-newborn no mommy help and it was the holidays god i hurt for a good 2 weeks. both were laprascopic barely have any scars.

take it easy take the pain med and a nap whenever you can. carry a pillow to block the lap jumping lol.

Thats the only thing that works for hubby too...
I stay up many a night listening to him vomit ..
He needs to go back to the doc for a script... hes gotta be destroying his esophagus.

I had my laprascopic choleststectomy 18 years ago--it was a newer procedure then. I had some crystals that got stuck in the bile duct (whooo weeee that was excruciating!) but they were able to remove them too. I was sore for several weeks after. I even held a pillow on my abdomen to walk farther than the house or get into the car (DH drove) for some time. The soreness eventually got less and less and I was so happy to never experience gall bladder pain again.

Good wishes for a speedy recovery!

Fattie, I am a hospital social worker and I assist people in getting medications. Have you tried filing an appeal with BCBS. Often times if your doctor will document what you have tried that has not worked they can over ride the formulary. If that does not work then get the phone number for the manufacurer of the med. They all have patient assistance programs. They are usually for people with no insurance but some will help if a persons insurance will not pay for their med. Hope this information helps.
