Very first post and very first venture into chickens or a coop.
My DH decided one day last week that we needed chickens and that he was going to build a coop (he works in computers and has never done anything with wood in his life)
So off we went, we didn't have any plans and had not yet found you guys, but we had decided to do what I have since learned is a fresh air style coop. I have no idea if we are doing anything at all right. AND as of right now we don't have a chicken anywhere in sight.
So far it hasn't fallen over on us
We live in the PNW so our weather is pretty mild. We might get a handful of days below freezing every year but for the most part if it snows here it melts the next day. Rain is our biggest thing.
Here are the pics of what we have done so far. We are planning on using the clear plastic (wavy) roofing stuff for the area above the front windows and the roof. I will cover the top part up to the rafters with more Hardware cloth. I am making the run in sections so that we can just screw each section together do to the uneven ground. (and we will add an apron to the whole thing when we have it up.
Please tell me what you think (gently LOL) and if you think that it won't work please tell me why so that I can explain to DH the reasoning behind the problem.
These will be our nesting boxes (they are an old shelf I had in my pantry)

Hope these pictures come through and that we are doing ok. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
