Anyone ever use these?

No. But I saw them at our Fleet Farm store. I thought if I had a barn or a really big problem...those would work great! I saw one mouse three weeks ago going towards the side of the garage where we keep our garbage in covered garbage cans. He must of smelled them. I set a T-Rex mouse trap that I baught from there, (two for $3.99)and caught him within 15 minutes. I've had both traps set and baited this whole time and no other mice.

But...like I said...you got lots of mice...that would work. But what would you do with them when they're caught??? That's a live trap. If you let them free...they will come back.

I'd probably toss the whole trap in a bucket of water, then feed them to the chickens

We have tons of mice, when I go out to get eggs in the evening (darn quail wait till almost dark to lay), I'll see at least 6 or 7 of them, scurrying around the feeder.

ETA: I figure if I am seeing this many, there must be a ton of them. I only wish they made rat traps like these. I'd be too afraid of a bantam or chick getting caught by a spring trap.

I would think so, since they seem to hide under the feeder. But with all these birds around here, who knows? At least the actual feed is in aluminum trash cans, so they can't get the stores. They just get whatevers in the feeder, which isn't usually much. I've thought about moving the feeder off the floor, but I figured that would just attract them to wherever I moved it. I have some hens with bitties that sleep on top of the rabbits cages, and wouldn't want the mice/rats to get the idea of climbing

I have, just make sure the mice can't go around, they like to go around, caught a whole nest full of babies as they came out of the nest, also put a little grain in it it helps

One approach: mix half plaster of paris and half peanut butter, then add enough veg. oil to make a thick paste. Roll into balls. Put in shoebox with a hole too small for chickens to get in.

I just use One Bite, a poison that does not harm an animal that eats a mouse that has died of the One Bite. I have rats that make holes in the ground so stick it down the hole and cover it with a brick or something. Have to keep the One Bite away from chickens and dogs and such, of course, but at least you don't have to worry about the dead mice. Actually I never see them anyway.

Some people take feeders into the house at night when mice are a problem.

On One Bite, the active ingredient is bromadiolone; there is more than one brand.

I had seen those peanut butter balls on another thread, but had no idea how to keep them away from the chickens (or stupid dog that my dad won't tie up

). I never thought of using a shoe box!!

I wonder if you could make that mix into a 'block' to make sure they can't carry it off somewhere?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Any box, of course; just a container to keep chickens and dogs and such away from the bait.
