Anyone feed Diamonds? *Dogs*

Yes I do know how to read ingredients. I can't quite remember exactly what the first 3 ingredients

were.

Darn my horrible memory

But the chickens are beginning to run low on pellets, so I'll

be making another trip soon enough, and I'll take a note pad with me. My dogs done really well on

purina's lamb and rice, even though I know it's not great food, and it's got lots of crap in it that dogs

shouldn't be eating, Their coats and poops looked really good, compared to what they were before.

See, my problem is that we have absolutely nowhere that sells the 'good' brands, (TOTW etc) Our petstore

used to be amazing, and sell all the brands like that, but it shut down.

So I basically have to go with

what our feed store has. I've read about diamonds being recalled I belive, which is the main reason why I posted here.

I post just about anything I wonder about.

We feed diamonds natural lamb. My lab has allergies to grass and corn I think. We switched and her hair came back and they poop considerably less lol! Bot of our dogs are on it. I am thinking of getting it for my cat.

I have to drive across town to get it, but they carry my chicken feed and rabbit feed pretty cheap, so it is worth the drive. Plus they carry square hay bales for $4.

Edited to add, it is a 3 star dog food, so for my budget, I think i am getting a good deal. It is better than anything you could get in the grocery and so if you don't want to shell out tons of money for a 6 star food, then it is the best deal.

The lamb ingredients are lamb, barley and some other grain first. (I think wheat?) But lamb is first.

Yes, If you can't afford the better stuff then Diamond is better than Ol'Roy from Walmart and better than Purina.. Dog foods like Science Diet, Eukanuba and Iams are nothing but junk and your just paying for the name. I remember years ago those were the top brands but if you look at their ingredients they are similar to Purina but cost a heck of alot more so your definitely just paying for the name brand.

I think my mother bought that once for the dog. But being the dog that he is, he turned his nose up at it! He'll only eat alpo. He has since we got him a 6 weeks, and now hes turn 12 years in may! But I have heard good things about dimond brand (neighbour feeds it to there dogs).

I use Diamond Naturals, either the lamb or the chicken. I try to avoid corn as a filler, as I've had one dog that had allergy issues. It's a decent mid-grade dog food, and both of my current dogs seem to do well on it. Once my dane stops growing, I'm going to try TOTW or something similar just to see if he'd generate less poop (most testaments declare that's the case). If it works, I'll stick with it. But if I'm still getting mountains, then I'll go back to DNat.

diamond natruals is better then the diamond base brand.

diamond "premium adult" first ingredient is chicken Byproduct meal, 2nd is corn and 3rd is wheat flour...all in all about the same quality as any grocery store brand

however

diamond "naturals" chicken and rice, is chicken, chicken meal (meal is simply dehydrated then ground), whole grain brown rice...all in all a good food for a none grain free.

i personally feed kirkland from costco which is the diamond naturals formula.
since the store can get regular diamond, ask if theyd be willing to order in diamond naturals if they dont already carry it, for you, it shoudlnt be much more expensive but is a much better food than the basic diamond brand.

i tried to feed diamond to my dogs, and they didn't do well on it. So I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Since my dogs don't eat all the time or poop that much once a day is all I think they are doing fine. Since I have feed my dogs dog chow for years and used it on my dobbie that was 14 years old when she passed I think I will stick with what works. My vet says that my dogs are very healthy and their teeth are in great shape. So I guess it works.

I have an 11 yr old dog who eats Diamond Senior and she's still going strong.

Although since everything else around me is dying, she may drop dead soon too but I don't think it would be the food.
