anyone feels bad for eating their chickens?

I have to say the same thing

Every time a meat-eater learns I'm a vegan they try to convince me of why eating meat is good and necessary. I don't try to convince people, I just share my views. As I shared before, my husband eats meat and as you can imagine our marriage would not have survived if I didn't acknowledge that the choice of diet is a personal decision. Some of my best and dearest friends are also meat-eaters and that difference only makes our relationship richer. It is wrong to impose anyone's views on someone, but I think respectful and cordial dialogue helps people in the long run. I don't claim to know everything about animal agriculture and for sure we can learn from one another.

My view is that compassion and respect for all creatures is beneficial to humans, animals and the environment.

Many people unconciously feel that the greatest confirmation of their own personal choices is to get others to make the same choice. I have met "converters" on both sides of the diet question, as well as other questions.

I think we are agreed that the OP does not have to feel guilty about eating her own chickens just because a visitor thinks she "should". Listening to rational arguments and considering them is fine, and on diet there are points on both sides.

This thread has been great for sharing our strange human hang-ups about some animals being eatable and others not.

I don't think you should feel any Different either. If you raised them for processing purposes then so be it. If you want to be a vegan what ever that means then go right a head, just don't step on my toes while doing so.
