She died in her sleep. There were no indications that anything was wrong with her. The poor dear.

Welcome JSC. Am new myself. We have 13 5-wk old Dominique chicks in one brooder, and a cardboard box brooder w/2 wk olds: 1 Buff Orphington and 2 RIRs. Husband thinks I'm chicke crazy but the kids and I are loving it! I am in Jeff City and got mine from 4-H and Orschelins. What kind of chickens do you have?

Awww sorry to hear that faith,i remember the first time i lost some the dogs next door got in and killed a few.Course this was like 5 years go when i got my first ones.Still so sad to lose em.

PD Savage ~ Thanks. We just found a RI Red with head drooped, weak, & white runny poo. Could this be cocci?

Sorry to hear it Faith. Good luck figuring this out-- wish I could help but I haven't learned much about health issues yet...

All the meds I had on hand were Colloidal Silver, Panacur for dog's Cocci, garlic, & Gatorade. Fed her some raw honey water, just a drop to coat her digestive tract. I dosed her with home made garlic oil. Hopefully this will help her. The Colloidal Silver made her more alert but there is something wrong when a Hen just stands on the dining room table for 45 minutes & doesn't startle much. She is looking around though & did cackle & bit Nik's hand.LOL

Hopefully something will help. We sprinkled Kelp on her food & gave her Gatorade with Colloidal Silver in it to drink.

Now what to do for the dirt floor coop???

Well its sounds like thats what it might be,but looks like your treating her.Hope she gets better,im rusty at this since i havent had any for 5 years.Ok gotta help hubby getting new counter top as the old one is like 50 years old acually its one on top of another.
