I used to get migraines on a regular, monthly cycle, with the falling of my hormones.
Tried the birth control pills, but was a total zombie. Tried some Rx...don't remember which ones, but they didn't work. I threw them all up.
I was reading a nutrition book when I started to get one. I get the visual aura (usually), then the pain in my brain and then the vomiting everything out from last year. Dark and cold and sleep really help, but are not always practical. I skipped to the end to see what the Dr. recommended for migraines. He said that when you go to the emergency room they give you an IV with B vitamin (can't remember which one) and magnesium. I RAN to my pantry grabbed brewers yeast (it has all the B vitamins in very good balance ) and epsom salts ( magnesium sulfate). I choked down a spoonful of each with a cup of coffee for the caffeine. After 20 minutes, I realized I could see the clock across the room. I did not end up getting that migraine. I am usually able to prevent most migraines now if I can get to my "stash" quick enough. and sit still for a few minutes.
I have tried magnesium tabs to no avail so I went to putting epsom salts in gel caps. I take 4 caps (or a half tablespoon) of that, with a tablespoon of brewers yeast mixed in milk with a little molasses to go down easier. I can't seem to quote, but this is similar to keeperofthehearth, using magnesium, B2, and feverfew.
My grandma gets them in relation to chocolate and MSG.
Those who seem to have issues with corn...GMOs seem to cause all kinds of autoimmune and allergic responses and corn is a major GMO crop in America. (Just in case anyone wanted to look into that possible issue, you can search for info about Genetic Roulette, it is easy to understand DVD and book and covers a lot of info.)
