I was considering letting my pullets have a go at a wild bird suet cake before nightfall to provide them fat for warmth in the evening. I would remove it so they would only be getting some...not the whole cake. Any opinions on seeded wild bird suet cakes for chickens?
Mine like them. They hang out under the feeders when the birds or squirrels are tearing them apart. When I made my own suet cakes I would let the chickens clean up the molds. Imp
I was wondering this myself! I am making suet cakes for the bird lovers in the family and wondered if they would give the girls something to entertain themselves with!
I've made my own "suet gobs" out of rendered beef fat or bacon fat and mix in scratch feed. I about get attacked when I take it out to the runs. They LOVE it
