Mine are due 25 November... BUT I hope they didn't die yesterday... I came home to find my incubator's temperature had shot up to 42 degrees C... That's around 106 F

I'm pretty sure they won't be hatching but keeping them going anyway until I can candle them to see what's going on... When can I candle them if I set them on Sunday?

I don't candle til 7 to 10 days after i put them in the incubator. I've had eggs that hit high temps and survive, it wasn't a great hatch rate but still had like half of them hatch. So you still may have something hatch from it.

Here is my eggs in their new incubator :) It's holding temp really well as far as I can tell. I checked it only twice today. They are in the egg turner so I have less stress :D
Hopefully they will hatch. I'm worried, I didn't turn them at first at all because I was waiting for aircells to attach. They were handled so roughly that I'm not holding my breath on this. We'll see on day 10 how many develop. 2 have nail police on them (that is the blue lines on the one egg in the top left) because they had cracks that could be seen when I candled before putting them in. I know i could ahve just tossed them but it's a green egg. I want a green egg layer.

I have some duck eggs set, so I will join your hatch-a-long if that is okay! I set 7 on October 27, and 5 more on November 3. 28 day incubation until hatch for these babies.

Their Mama is a crested brown girl, and their Daddy is a blue and white charmer. They are the eggs of my friends babies, set out of curiosity to see if they were good and fertile.

I will be added to the list and likely the most inexperienced hatcher ;-) This is our first time and I am CLUELESS!!

Our eggs are tracking for arrival tomorrow morning with placement in the incubator tomorrow night(after they've settled). Which would give us a hatch date of...11/29-ish(turkey day chicks!!)

We purchased the "Hatching eggs-Our best standards" from MPC. It can include basically ANYTHING...so it will be a guessing game! My daughter was SO torn on which eggs to pick that this seemed like the best way to go without spending a small fortune for eggs after spending close to $500 on day olds for the same project(she wanted the minimum number(3) of everything-LOL). Our existing flock is mixed(barred rock, production reds, and EEs with a Barred Rock roo and I didnt really want mixed breed babies)

We are using a borrowed hovabator, but if all goes well, we MAY purchase our own...I will likely be asking for recommendations later, Im sure I will find it just as addicting as raising day-olds to add to our flock ;-) Just feel bad for my husband, he has to keep adding on to the chicken coop :) Im just lucky he is indulgent...last year I ordered 6 EEs and 2 silkies, feed store left a message that they had my 8chicks. I called back before listening to the message, the relayed that they had my NINE chicks. We arrived 20minutes later to pick them up...I had TEN in my box ;-) So I guess even the feed store knows what to do with the "extras"-LOL

Hi! I can't resist joining a hatching thread!

I just had a very poor hatch from my home made incubator (which is usually pretty reliable) so I'm hoping for a much better result this time around! I also had a broody leave the nest and her eggs go bad. So I'm in desperate need of some chicks on the ground!
I'm using a new incubator for the first time and have 15 of my eggs and also 61 shipped eggs in there. That's 76 in total

I put them in this afternoon and the incubator is just getting up to temp now. They are all bantam modern game eggs.

With the shipped eggs, a lot of them had detached aircells so they are upright in egg cartons. Those that have good aircells and my eggs are laying on their sides. Hatch day for me should be the 29th of November (but after my bad incubation and the broody episode, I'm certainly not counting my chickens before they hatch! lol)

I also have about 17 or so eggs under another broody who is due on the 21st of this month. Wish me luck!

Good luck to everyone else! Let's hope we all have plenty of chicks in about 3 weeks time.

Hello all! I've had my broody silkie hen (Puff) setting on 5 eggs since 10/17. The rooster is a red silkie & the mommas are either RIR or red star. The one pure silkie egg died about a week ago. I only wanted to hatch eggs because this was my hens first time going broody & I've never hatched eggs before! 2/4 hatched last night & the remaining 2 have just pipped. I'm so excited and had to share with fellow chicken people!
