Well, this was my 1st chicken show........guess there aren't a lot of poultry enthuist around NC because this show only had maybe 100 birds. And...maybe 20 for sale.....drove 2h for 20min of entertainment. One thing I know for sure....I've gotta enter some of mine next year. There were mostly Jersey Giants and game birds at this show. Wonder when the next one near me is? Happy days!

I enjoyed the show and was able to see some very nice LF RIRs. Also, Frank Harris the tresurer of the RIR club guilded me thru to a better understanding of what made a good RIR bird. He and James Anderson talked to me for well over an hour showing me how to judge birds combs, coloring, shape, stance and many other things. They also signed me up for the RIR chub on the spot. And, advised me on how to start raising chicks and with what incubator they reccomended. We were there for 4 hrs. and I would've paid for the information I obtained.
The show wasn't as big or varied as the show two weeks ago in Winston-Salem. And, they didn't have as many outside for sale that is very true. But, there were maybe 20 LF RIRs, and 20 bantam RIRs, A large room and a half of bantams of different types and more LF than the Winston- Salem show. But the best thing about both shows is that there were some of the nicest, most helpful people there.

Well... I wish I would have gotten to meet you all. I did meet HenThymes. I was there for a few hours, waiting on raffles & a bird I bought to be judge. She came in first....of course she was the only one of her color.

Well I loved the show in Smithfield. There were far more than 100 birds b/c there were 11 japs and 15 or so Serama, which were some of the smallest number of a breed there. The folks that ran the show did a GREAT job! I can't believe all the wonderful raffle items - UNREAL! Everything was useful and nice, and I have never seen so much stuff to be raffled at a show (75+ items). I appreciated having the bantams at waist level and not on top of each other. You could really see the birds, and short people like me could actually reach their birds. Seemed like we had more space to maneuver than at other venues. Yes it was a smaller show than Winston or Morganton, but I enjoyed myself just as much or more! Keep up the good work Cape Fear Poultry Association!!!!
