Hi my husband bought this new incubator for me , does anyone else have one the same ? , I have 6 polish hen eggs waiting to go in it in the morning. The temp is set 37.5° but there's no humidity settings , so i put a little round hygrometer in myself. It says fill up the bottom middle with water but its staying at 60% humidity way to high , so should I just do a dry hatch and leave it with no water? my old incubator was so much easier than this but its broke , what should I do? 🙏💖💖

my glass thermometer broke and local store ordered me one should be here by tomorrow morning.
I hadn't got the heart to tell my husband it was a bad one , cause he bought it off Adverts 🙈

That bottom is a bit strange for humidity control but you can make it work. The thing that controls humidity in that type of system is surface area. The depth of water doesn't matter except for how fast it evaporates and how often you need to refill it. If you can cover part of the water surface so there is not as much surface for water to evaporate you can lower humidity. One way to reduce the surface area is to cover part of the open water with aluminum foil.

I don't much like that design, it looks like it would be easy to accidentally overfill it, which you probably need to do for lockdown. If you get other parts of the incubator wet the humidity will spike until that water evaporates. My reservoir design is different from that, I have four different reservoirs of different sizes. I control humidity by which of those reservoirs I fill. If I accidentally spill some water the humidity can go way up for a while until it dries up.

What if I tried dry hatching ? would i still have to put water in for the last 3 days ?
Im raging I didn't realize this one was so bad 😫 doesn't even have a hole to top up the water , you have to take the whole top half off and pour water in 😔

Hello! I just used this incubator for hatching this week. I don’t have much advice for the humidity control, but with ours the eggs on the far left hatched 2-3 days before the others. We had so much trouble with eggs shrink wrapping even when following the humidity guidelines. We lost 5 of the 10, even with me helping clear their beak areas when pipping. Be careful of overfilling like some have said. One of ours got it’s beak in the water and drowned overnight. I really think you should try to borrow or purchase a new incubator before hatching time starts for you soon. It’s been a really stressful week with keeping such a close eye on them and trying to prevent the shrink wrapping. I’d hate for you to have the same issues and lose your little guys.

Thanks , its day 14 , do you think i should stop putting water in now untill day 18 ? Im sooo frustrated with it because they are definitely fertile its definitely the incubators fault its going wrong x
