I think that if I read the article right that there were only 5 people with confirmed cases of salmonella related to the egg recall. There are hundreds of ways to get some type of food poisoning. It amazes me that any case can be traced back to a single source. I don't deal with salmonella in my home that I am aware of, but basic hygiene and washing my hands occasionally through out the day will keep any normally healthy person healthy. Eating my backyard eggs does feel like a good thing, but I would still not be afraid of a store bought egg either. Cooking an egg will always render it safe to eat. I have say that I have always eaten raw cookie dough, and it's unlikely that I will stop because of a news blurb.
We have been told to cook eggs throughly since the 1970's. A health department is always going to error on the side of over caution. There are people that clearly need to heed all of those warnings, due to their own poor health and or weakened immune systems. People like babies and the elderly are often the first victims of food borne illnesses. I don't believe in keeping an environment sterile, but a little common sense, coupled with basic cleaning isn't bad either.
So the answer at my house is no I have not gotten sick from eating the cookie dough, oh! wait the raw eggs right?
