I'm very curious as to why my cockerel is so not like a cockerel. He is 6.5 months old, has only crowed one time and that was just the other day, He doesn't try to mate. We have no other roos. Anybody ever had a male bloom so late?

You probably have a very dominant hen who keeps him in check, I have a hen who mounts other hens to replace the un dominant rooster. He is terrified of her and she won't let him get away with anything.

he has saddle feathers and a funky tail just an unusually small comb and wattles.
I see what looks like saddle feathers but they aren't thin like they should be, to me they look like downward growing feathers. I would post in the gender forum and see what others think, otherwise call me crazy and ignore me.

If I'm wrong certain breeds mature more slowly, Australorp would be one of them.
