i would also like to give a big shout out to suechick for starting this thread. thanks so much. and a shout out to all that are on this thread. you all rock. i am a newbie and i have gotten so much support and wonderful advice. i couldn't have done it with out you all.

I cracked open the egg that had been sitting there foe a day and a half with a hole in the shell. It was one of the EE eggs. Even though the little guy didn't make it I can tell he would have been so cute. Sort of blond with a dark brown stripe down his head.

All in!

I ended up with 20 chicks out of 30 eggs that I had shipped.

3 out of 9 for the Frizzle EEs

8 out of 9 for the Buff Os

9 out of 12 for the Barred Rocks

Not so bad for a first hatch. I don't know what happened with the Frizzles.....They were shipped with the Buff Os that did excellent. I thought some of the eggs looked small and weird shaped when I got them.

One is not pictured here because I had her seperate. She had some trouble walking....so I had her seperate from the others for a while. Actually when I put her with the other chicks she seemed to pick it up and started walking a bit so I think she will be ok. I am pretty sure she is a pullet too so I wanted to try to help her.

Can any of you tell the sex of the other BRs? I am having a hard time deciding on a few. 3 of the darker ones are the EEs.

I have them in a 22" x22" crate I got at a sale. The sides are only 8 inches tall so I think I will have to move them to a bigger pen soon. As of right now they seem to be liking it in here.

My runt this chick hatched a little to early he is a roo we call Ryder. Small but mighty he has the loudest peep!

The one in the second picture to the right solid grey color will probably be solid blue and more than likely have english lines. The others that have the brown in the face have buff color and I want to say that the ones that look dark brown, I think they are a mix of black and buff.

How long did it take?

I don't think they wore the boots more than 3 or 4 days or so. Well, one of them didn't really keep them on more than a few hours at a time. They are growing really fast right now. It shouldn't take long if your little one cooperates.
