Well, I brought them home so this is them chilling in their Rubbermade brooder here in the kitchen! The poor chicks all got put out in the stock tank in the garage... Gotta take extra care of those poults!

I had a lemon blue cochin hatch today. Day 21. But, I actually was pre warned by the seller, that these eggs usually take the "full" 21 days..so, could be a day later because they are LF. eggs. I have more of hers in my bator right now, due to hatch in a couple of weeks.
Good luck, maybe tomorrow! Maybe tonight!!!!

So we had one live birth on Thursday. One that pipped zipped and quit and 11 that are still doing nothing. I'm wondering how long I should give them till I crack an egg to find out? Another day or two?

The one that has hatched is pretty active but we noticed that her toes are curled under.

Fortunately I did a search on this forum and found a way to help her in this thread...

We made little boots for her out of thin cardboard and band-aides This photo is from the thread.

I finally have some pictures to show:

These are some of the Orpingtons from MJ Chickens. I can't wait to see what they look like as adults. Any ideas? Unfortunately, I'll only be able to keep a couple.

My lovely broody. She'll charge anyone who comes near her brood. It's a real challenge to give her food!

I had to do that with a couple last year. One of them kept the boots on and it's toes straightened out fine, the other wouldn't keep its boots on, her toes are still curled today. But she's a real sweetheart.

Congrats on your baby.

I'd guess low humidity, shrink wrapping happens when they dry out too much. Glad you have some chicks!!
