Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

I cracked it open. It was definitely dead. Beyond help dead. It seems to of shrink wrapped so I tried to up my humidity more - but I doubt much for the others who haven't piped internally yet...

I feel so.. heartbroken.. it was a perfect little fully developed baby... from it's fuzzy little boots to its teeny little eyes... how could I screw up their entry into the world so horribly?

I know it goes against good flock management to try to "help" eggs along. But with this being your first hatch, I would probably check one of the other eggs (and keep checking until you find a live one). If they are shrinkwrapped, they could still be alive and just unable to move enough to pip. Sadly, I don't really think you have much to lose at this point

If they are shrink wrapped and haven't even pipped I don't think they are going to do it on their own - especially if you didn't have any long periods of temps below 98.5.

Sorry things aren't going so well but if they are sitting in those shells partially shrink wrapped, they may not make it to day 24.

Btw, when I say "shrink wrapped" It was /just/ the top that was dry. The rest of it was still very soft, moist and pliable... came right off the baby... I really don't know what this means for the rest of them at all. Noone else has tried anything. They were all put on LD on the 6th. Two seemed underdeveloped at the time. This guy pipped internally on the 9th around 12 in the afternoon.

All seven died after LD... two of them had pipped only to die afterward.... two of them had defects(warped heads/beaks/one was missing an eyelid) other three were trying to pip at one point ... god.

I don't think I can do this again. I didn't think I'd get so attached but all those little dead eyes staring at me that were counting on me.... and I just screwed up with one thing I thought I was doing fine... and they were so small and perfect.. the five of them... with their feathery little feet. So much so one of them was definitely definitely not a porcelain d'uccle. It was light yellow and had orange bald legs and was even bigger than the others - everyone else was light-dark gray with white fuzzy legs.

Please, does anyone know where I can order breeder porcelain D'uccle chicks? I can't do this again, I really can't. These guys broke my heart into a million slivers. I can't stop crying over these darn things..
