Anyone HATCHING?!?!? Newbie's and addicts WELCOME!!!! Hatch Calendar page 1!!!!

I candled the two eggs Smores was sitting on and nothing but red rings but that's ok. She hatched one egg 10 days ago and was ready to get off the nest so I fixed them up a new apartment and made baby Grayson a brooder when Smores was out with the flock and everyone is happy. I'm hoping to have better luck hatching this spring.

Silkymom1986 - I wish my hubs liked the chicken thing as much as I do! He's kind of indifferent to it until I start expanding my flock. He is such an enabler though (he would never admit to it,) because everytime I go to start working on a coop or a run, he ends up telling me I'm doing it wrong and taking it over. LOL. Fine by me!

I can't fuss too much, I had DH and both of my boys out yesterday helping cover a run. It doesn't take too long when 4 people are working on it. My DH "thinks" its for my LF girls. But in all reality it would make the PERFECT B/B/S silkie breeding pen area! Just throw in a chick house and there ya go!

That is my next project, to build a coop and run just for my silkies! My Dad and brother in law had to help me and hubs build the one we have now, as neither of us are very crafty, and now it's hard to get them motivated to help us,

I wish I knew more about that kind of stuff!!

That's my current project also, I want to keep my sizzles/silkies seperately from my Marans and the other "big kids." I asked my hubby to bring home some pallets from his work and he was hesitant, then all of a sudden he said he'd need to get me plywood and siding and insulation...

Speaking of that, I should ask all of you Silkie owners... how big do they get?

I think they look a lot bigger than they really are. Probably a couple pounds at the most. I always tell my husband it takes 5 silkes to make 1 large breed bird
